This is the last quote that went along with The Team update that Sakurai went over 5/10/07. Now these words have boggled my minds for a small while, allowing my mind be filled with fancies and wonderment. This is what I've come up with.

1)"There’s a method for powering yourself up as needed to do battle"-This seems like a new technique to me. Something that can be charged. It seems to me like a agressive attack

2)"to do battle with the Subspace Army"-This seems like as if it is forwarded only to the Subspace army or rather in special situations

3)This is on the team update so I'm going to assume it deals with some sort of cooperative means.

What I came up with is a team attack system, let me go over it.



In Sonic advance 3, the player can choose a main character along with a partner. With each partner you can use a team attack by holding the R button. The main character would charge up a spherical energy force that when fully charge the opposite player would jump into the grab and then a team attack would insue.



In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (yeah I know its bad subject matter, but it gets the job done) the players can do a team attack by both player making a grab motion to each other

This wouldn't be hard to implement into Brawl. They can set it up so that a grab from player from team red to another player from the same team does a different action than to a character from a opposing side. After grabbing a player from your team you would hold the grab button until it charged up to full (either to make the move stronger or to add the appropriate lag for such a move). Now with all the characters combinations a roster of 40 would make a complete list 820-1640 attacks(whether the team attack would change depending on who grabbed). This can be easily fixed however through the process of giving individuals the same special for more than one character (for example Wario's special with Pit would be the same with Lucas because there's not much to these two when it comes to team work).


This could also be used in team mode in normal brawl. Characters could still throw character by tilting the controller stick I guess, really a mode like this opens up possibilities. I hope that I hit some points right and I know we all look forward to the charged special actually being revealed.


Discuss about the possibilities here or list you're own fantasy team attacks (I did a search and there is not a thread like this so I'm assuming I should be fine). Please note I am not saying it will be in brawl or anything like that but rather am discussing the possibilities of such an occurance.

you know, this is actually a really good idea, and i wouldn't be surprised if it ends up getting its own how to play update. maybe you do a team attack when one team member grabs a team member holding a smash ball? (vs mode) or maybe they taunt at the same time next to each other after getting.... something which allows them to pull it off. like a team attack ball...

I love reading your threads. They are all well informative, and actually make sense.

I've never took a moment to sit down and ponder upon what Sakurai said in the "Teams" update. Your idea is something that I can agree with, and is insanely awesome. I mean, it's not just a coincidence that Sakurai's statement is in the "TEAMS" update.

It would be interesting to see what Sakurai and his team can come up with for this possibly function. I don't see a lot of options happening for team combos, but at least one "super team combo" would be terrific.

Actually, it WOULD be awesome if you could activate a "team final smash" by having both players collecting a Smash Ball, and releasing they're final smash together. Too much? Maybe. It's just as doable as some team combos! ... it would take a lot of time, though.

wow thanks, I was honestly afraid to make this thread (I was afraid of getting flamed like usual :ohwell:). I'm just happy things are looking up for this thread.

I think in the end (with team attacks) all it comes down to is Mario + Yoshi having the plumber ride the dinosaur. I don't know how it will happen, if it can, or if it will but it would be awesome non the less

Wow. This is a unique idea. Just think though how many team attack combinations they'd need to come up with X______X

This is the only reason why I don't think it'll happen. Otherwise, it's an excellent idea, and I'd love to see something like this implemented.

I like this idea, but I don't think it will be available for all combinations of all characters. It seems to me, if something like this is in the game, then only characters from the same series would be able to do it.

I know in the SE they throw different characters together, but the farther you go into the SE, the more characters join your team, and you can pick between all of them. It would make some sense that you only get access to these super strong attacks towards the end of the SE, when characters like Mario and Luigi, or Link and Zelda, finally meet up.

There would be a lot of combinations between characters. Creativity would be stretched to the max to come up with all of them.

Sounds interesting, but I think that it should stick to one Team attack per character, like it is in SA3. Maybe some special combos (Mario and Sonic, or Pokemon Trainer and Pikachu, for example) would have different Team Attacks, but mostly it seems that each character should only have a few.

Great idea, though. I don't see it as too likely, however. :/

The idea is a bit clunky but it could work, I just tink it be cool to combine Final Smashes someway, without one guy using it then your teammateusing his...like an actual combination


For example-Meta Knight and Mario: Mario activates his FS which begins to engulf the enemy, while this is happening Meta Knight leap HIGH into the air much like his up throw, as the enemy/enemies are being pulled along by Mario Finale and all is dark except the glowing flames, Meta Knight dives down with a might slash, instantly Koing the enemies

Pikachu adds a giant electric wave (don't know any special attacks , since I haven't picked up Pokemon since generation 1) to the PT FS.

Kirby collect the enemy in his crockpot o' doom and DeDeDe beats the crap out of him with the mecha-hammer, causing no knockback but rediculous damage.

Zelda fires a light arrow dealing a ton of damage, stunning the opponent who Link then deals his Triforce Slash to.


Great idea btw.

the main problem with team supercombos, is to mix every possible character.

I've seen this solved in 3 different ways: one, just overlapping the two hypercombos, like in marvel vs capcom. boring, there's not really a teamwork.

two: character specific attacks: ryu and ken's Double Shinkuu HadouKen is the very best prrof, and this could be applied to any character from the same series, much like mario and luigi "mario bros finale" being merely a doble fire storm, only that Luigi's normal finalsmash would be another. wow, this explanation sux, but doesn't matter since is not a very good solution.

three, the best of all in my opinion: the Rival Schools series has the best solution : when you input the double attack, your character does an small attack, if it hits, then the team supercombo is activated, and this is defined by your support character. How this could work?
for example, let's say that our team is mario and sonic. We already know their finalsmashes, right? now, let's say that mario grabs the smash ball. what happens now? when mario activates it, instead of the fire storm, he only does an uppercut, similar to his tiltup. IF connects, this sends the opponent upwards, then sonic and mario begin some kind of aircombo , ending with an spindash, this being Sonic's team finale.
If sonic gets the smashball, then , when activated, does some attack to send upwards the opponent, and IF connects, then mario and sonic do the coin jump in a rising tornado motion, this being mario's team finale.

well, this explanation is also bad, so if you're interested, look for some Rival Schools videos.

This would be a great idea, it would had even more depth to the gameplay, however I don't think team attacks would be that awsome. and they shouldn't have to use the smash ball. For example, if link and Ike did a team attack, they should only both charge forward with their swords, covering eachother from someone interupting the combo.

Well, team attacks were never implemented in the previous installments, so you may be on to something here, homelessvagrant. It's a method that was never seen in Smash Bros. before, right? But they could also use coins or trophys as power-ups.

Needed? I think it means we must resort to that method in order to conquer the adventure mode.

That's all I have to say for the moment.

I was thinking that it would be some kind of leveling up system...but unison attacks a la Tales of Symphonia seems to work as well...unless that is...you have no one to play with. Maybe you could even have team attacks in versus mode, but that would mean you would need 300 different attacks for just 25 characters...bleh nevermind

I can see this happening and it would be awesome. maybe one of the potential reasons for delaying? I dont know either way this would be cool, they could make it more simple and make it characters from similar series or characters that have similar fighting styles kinda like DOA4. Anyway they do it it would be really cool.

i think he was reffering to the [!] boxes, in one of the e 4 all videos it shows dk hitting it and becoming giant i think

New Idea for Team Smash:

Kirby and Dedede: Hello and welcome to Popstars Greatest Recipes. Today we will be preparing Super Smash Soup. First select your Meat. Link or Mario usually does fine, but maybe you wan't to spice things up a bit with Zero Suit Samus. Next We tenderize the meat (Dedede beats them with a hammer brutally) Now lets start the sauce (Kirby stirs pot) good now add the meat and stir slowly for 5 minutes. *timer rings, Person pops out, instant KO*
