Teaching a class on Melee, need help

I was going to say something along these lines. Only thing I'd change is cover stage positioning as lecture three. This is the most important aspect of Smash--knowing how where your opponent is and what options they have in that position affects your options where you are. Teach this, and pretty much everything else flows from those concepts.

True, but you've already bored them to death with theory the first two lectures. I would shy away from making their first "controlled" interaction with the game boring or too theory heavy. Comboing and Tech chasing are relatively concrete and methodical to teach and are generally the first thing players think about in a "fighting game". Don't shatter their world day 1 by telling them its really king of the hill and you have to play really cheap ;)
