Upon hearing that Galaxy has sold over a half a million copies in first week (I have one of them), how do you think Brawl will do in the first week?

My guess is about the same.

I say below. Smash Bros. has never really been the HIT game on launch, if you know what I mean. It has always been the game that not many people has known about, but play it at a friends and fall in love with it. That's what happened to me.

Well it all really depends on how they market it. If there happens to be no other marketing techniques than word-of-mouth and the dojo, then it should get a fair amount from 300-500k copies. But if they do awesome commercials, that's another story.

Well, I'm gunna go based on reservations. In the computers at my job, we had 11 reserves for Galaxy while we had 20 reserves for Brawl. Based on that, I am guessing Brawl will sell 750,000 copies in it's first week.

Then again it varies from region to region, so some store in the middle of Nevada or within some small town in Japan may only have 5 reserves :p.

This is just something very hard to predict, for adding in video game demand, diff. marketing strategies, and even the time of year it's being released makes it all the more a headache =P

^ Also a good point. Some people might not know about the game because of where they live, or are unable to buy it. For example, someone living in Hawaii will have a harder time to get a copy than someone who lives in California because of priority and demand.

I believe that Super Smash Bros. Brawl won't have the troublesome mark the Wii's Launch had, which was not enough copies of the game. I mean, they was supposed to go Gold in less than a month, but now we are waiting an extra two or so. This is a nice sign we can get quite a few million more copies made.

It all really depends on where it's shipped. If 10,000 Copies get sent to California and only 500 to Hawaii... yeah.

it will be greater than predicted because people will buy more than one copy just in case it breaks, so they cn play brawl without having to wait

I think it'll do decent. Not over-hyped Halo3 or Galaxy sales, but good solid sales. The big sales on this game come in late, they don't make a ton of money on launch, but they make a ton of money in the long run because the game is still in demand for a long time.

People play it with their friends first, then go out to buy it. SSBM (around me anyway) was being borrowed all over, lost and re-purchased so many times.
