Sonic.EXE has to be one of the dumbest things of recent. I hate crappy CreepyPastas. How did this get so popular? I've heard that there were even kids that were introduced to Sonic with this and got disappointed at the lack of Sonic.EXE in the actual games. :facepalm: I mean I understand that they're just kids but... come on...

I'll admit, when I did first hear of the story (I assume it was around when I was twelve or so), I got a little spooked, but then again I was a bit of a wuss. Now that I've gotten older, I've begun to realize the large cracks in the plot. Personally I now find it an unintentional comedy.
The same thing could be happening here. Mind you, a lot of the members on Miiverse are of the tween-teenage age. So I can at least understand where they're coming from (also it's a demon going around killing things, and Miiverse loves its edge), but do I consider it a good creepypasta? Of course not. Personally though, if anyone plans on revisiting it, I recommend the video done by Retsupurae. They give both a dramatic reading and a riff in one.

In regards to that post in particular, I wouldn't know where on Earth he got it from. I've read the entire pasta. And never once did I see or hear anything about some "demonic dad". I did look into his posts, and he looked to take a lot of inspiration from said story.

I don't know much about Sonic.exe (I've heard about it's existence everywhere. Like with other so called "creepy" Sonic stuff like the Tails Doll, I'd probably think it would be a stupid, overused and immediately get sick of hearing it as I am already.) but....there are seriously kids who got introduced to Sonic from a Creepypasta?

What the hell.

EDIT:

Well, actually I did start learning the "true" state of the internet when I was around twelve and thirteen. So those around that age learning of Sonic.exe's existence wouldn't surprise me. But anyone younger than that....

That is pretty true, I guess I was just shocked it became that much of a phenomenon...

I remember that Retsupurae, it was the first time I finally learn of the Sonic.EXE story (I was always aware of the Sonic.EXE character himself) and was like "...this was the thing that became popular?". lol

Oh I can easily explain.

The main protagonist is a guy named Tom, and one day he receives a game (named "Sonic.EXE") from his friend Kyle, who he's not seen in a long time. The game comes with a note saying to dispose of it, claiming there is great evil inside it out to get him. But Tom, being a genius, plays the game anyway.

The game starts up like what seems to be normal, until a strange thing starts to happen. When he starts the game, a screen pops up for about a frame.

Just pretend the blood is hyper-realistic.

So he starts and he gets to pick three characters: Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman (of which he claims was never playable in the actual games). The latter two are locked, so he went with the former. And one by one the three are killed.
Then Sonic decides to have a little conversation with Tom. Claiming how he's next and will end up like Tom and all that malarkey.
So the two have a little commotion and after it seems like Tom has won.

Long story short the ending is simply saying Sonic.EXE is still alive. But I'd rather not spoil how, that's the best part.

...So his friend sent him the game, despite it saying dispose of it. The protag and his friend aren't quite bright at all, are they?

I'm ironically interested in the rest of the Sonic.EXE story, I never saw what happened beyond the game itself :laugh:

I remember the Tails Doll curse. Apparently Miyamoto sacrificed a chicken to create a seal on the GameCube version of Sonic R so the Tails Doll couldn't escape.

I'm not, honestly. A lot of popular creepypastas end up getting at least one game in tribute to it (just look at Slenderman).

I've seen Ben Drowned every now and then. (And while I admit I'm very much "eh" with it I can at least respect it for trying to something different, such as not using a ton of blood. Even if the concept is a little cliche at this time and age.) Though I will admit I do see more Sonic.EXE and FNAF.

At least FNaF started out as a game on it's own rather than being based on a yet another overused Creepypasta story. Plus it brought something new and fresh, and it's still only a few months old. The Miiverse drawings of them can be pretty funny at times.

And I was quite intrigued with the Ben Drowned thing once I first heard of it and read it. But then I started seeing it everywhere (especially on Majora's Mask videos that otherwise had nothing to do with it) even people who would just say "BEN.DROWNED" and literally nothing else in their comments. I was sick of it.

I think I may have seen at least one BEN drawing on Miiverse once...but I can't recall for sure.

I personally believe it simply begun to die out. Mostly due to how inflated it's gotten and that we've seen the "haunted gaming" scenario billions of times now.

Yesterday I remembered there was an early episode of the Powerpuff Girls where some weirdo had almost all the girls' merchandise. Like, unhealthy levels. That was 15 years ago! I guess it's a good thing Miiverse didn't exist way back then. :p

These guys are blissfully unaware of what they're doing can be seen from the sidelines. I almost feel sorry for them.
