And brdy, that sounds intersting, perhaps i might do one on both cuz im that skilled lol nah idk, from the peeps i talked to the 17th seems to be a good day, for it unless i somehow get an overwhelming response who say the 24th, is better and if there's a decent amount maybe i'll do both o_0 though i heard there's like an oregon tourney or something going on the same weekend.

24th sounds better, you shouldn't put it the same day as GC.
Supposedly Eastern WA is coming down, they want to play brawl And melee. etc etc.

Oh and pretty sure GC being on the same day is going to hinder attendance more than some ****ty Oregon tournament (which is probably Brawl-only anyway)

Me too, T!mmy and t0mmy are literally (while not physically) running that tournament to cater Brawl Melee and 64, but with stupid rulesets and the actual organizer is changing whatever they say.

yeah oregon has really dumb rules. like GSR (guy's stupid rule with direct influence from timmy and tommy)
I love Oregon. Except when it comes to smash 
RCB 5 was awesome but that **** rarely happens. Lately I've been thinking that there needs to be an Oregon melee community that's separate from the smash community Timmy and Tommy have created and have been largely dictating since, like, ever. Like how the Socal melee community existed as its own entity separate from brawl. That way, it was able to grow independently bringing in players that are interested in smash but don't like brawl, old melee players that got sick of brawl, and keeping the players that never left melee stimulated with an active community.
Now Oregon is becoming this mash-up community where nothing really happens. There are some melee players around but most assume the melee community is dead, replaced largely by brawl.

Yeah I like how at Guy's house they just shoved us in a tiny room with 2 small TV's (though the two setups were much appreciated; IES only provided one setup for Melee, which was fine). Plus I wanted to do doubles but I didn't have a bracket program and no one cared to do it as much as I did.
It sucks that people aren't as passionate about it down in Oregon as we are up here (aka me, Kamaji, Eggz, and a few others), but I feel like if someone started hosting Melee events (or things like the Jiggs 2) more often (and without the influence of timmy and tommy) it would instill a bit more passion in the Oregon Melee players.

Yeah Brady I agree. People only want to host tournaments if they'll get a decent-ish turnout. So automatically, no one who knows the Oregon scene even a little bit will want to host a melee tournament. But the only way for the melee scene to grow, become more passionate and stuff is if there are tournaments. It's a Catch-22

So turns out the Jiggs 2 isn't going to be happening. The guy who was going to let Gage use the venue says it's considered "gambling" and he can't let him use the room.
So basically: Come to GC this weekend and switch this event to next Saturday.

A lot of people are going to be at Gameclucks on Saturday so we're going to host a Melee tournament there.
One of the main reasons that Syler's tournament was this weekend was to not interfere with the Jiggs 2 (as far as I know).
Gameclucks will interfere more (ie THIS Saturday).
If he moves it to next Saturday, I can bus over or drive with Nick if he's willing and we'd have 2 Melee tournaments on the west side two weekends in a row instead of two at the same time.
A lot of people are going to be at Gameclucks on Saturday so we're going to host a Melee tournament there.

Well i talked to a bunch of people on the phone and read the thread posts, and even if gc has melee there doesn't look like a bunch of people will go, but also i know a bunch of people who want to make it to mine, so pretty much (this is the kicker) im going to have a melee tourney on both saturdays (17th and 24th) because that not only seemed the most fair but that seemed to be what the majority agreed on. Obviously there were a lot of posts for me to move it to next week but it seemed like it was the same 5 people, whereas the people i talked to on the equaled way more then that as a collective, but like i said i will have it BOTH saturdays, so send the word out x_X. Msn if you got any questions or comments.

Edit: Dude 2 tournaments in 2 weekends in a row is a bit odd especially without notice and ****. I think we should scratch this tournament for this saturday and everyone who's planning on going to this one go to GC. We'll host a melee tournament there.
You could host the tourney next weekened and everyone will be happy. I didn't realize you were trying to host on the same day as GC. We used to host Melee there we might as well do it again, Eggz says we can get at least 2 -4 TV.'s and have room for 1-2 TV's we bring ourselves. We can keep the same entry costs and probably pull in some brawl players too.

1: Theres already a tournament on this date. The biggest reoccurring tournament in WA.
2: Theres always been melee signups at GC. Not enough people to do it though.
3: Having tournaments with the same people every time is not how you expand a community. The biggest/easiest pool of untapped players is the brawl community. A bunch of smashers ready and willing to play low entry melee tournaments, already at gameclucks, but instead playing here?
The only problem could be setups. I could see us having a maximum of 3-4 melee setups during the brawl tournament, but like 5-7 afterwards. If a couple bring TVs possibly more.
Everyone should just go to GC. I'd rather risk a slow melee tournament than have none because you guys want to split the community or something.

The reason im having melee down here is because majority of the people weren't going to go to gameclucks anyways so i looked around to see if people would be then willing to come to mine and i'd say about 80% if not more said they would so i said why the hell not. It's not that im trying to split the community hence why i have another one in a week it's just giving the people what they want.
The rest of you guys going to gameclucks take it as you want, but i'll be hosting another one in a week so that EVERYONE can make it, even for the peeps in oregon. ;P
