Sword users, like any other type of fighter, are good in modderation.

Personally, I would like for Ganondorf to use a trident or spear, like he did of old. Heck, that sword right there looks like a trident. (Now that would be weird, he uses like a trident for some attacks, and uses it as a large sword for others)

He only used the trident as a beast, and we're going to play him as a human. To me it would be out of place, but interesting none the less.

Despite what people say, you can never really have too many, since people love weapon users. Maybe one day we'll see a game specifically for Nintendo swordmen.

I really don't have a problem with so called "sword users" in Brawl. It's not like the majority of them use the same exact sword fighting style. Just because they use a sword doesn't mean they're going to be the same ( I mean I've seen people complain about sword users for almost no reason, they use a sword...so what?)

I personally think that any of the FE swordsmen would make great characters for melee (well, maybe not Eliwood). Marth is going to be my pick, but I'd also like to see The Black Knight get in.

Sigurd is a popular Japanese FE character.

I would actually like to see Lyndis in SSBB. Her katana like sword fighting technique makes her unique from other sword fighters. Being female is a plus too.

Black knight would be cool but I think he would end up being a boss.

Lyn is my most wanted sword user as of now. As kirby said she is female which, we all know, is a plus in Sakurai's book. And she would be the first female sword weilder.

On topic- You're second sentence doesn't make sense. So you're saying he won't be a boss but he will be playable. Or he won't be a boss unless he is playable.

Perhaps he means boss in the way that Giga Bowser was in SSBM.

That one. Because if he is to fight as a boss he'd have to have some kind of move set designed in and they have him already designed.. so why leave him out?

Well Giga Bowser probably wasn't able to be played because of the size but Black Knight would be good measures for a character. And Giga Bowser is playable now =P

I must say, Ike looks pretty cool, but I think they should leave it at that for the swordsman because those characters don't have much variety....slash, slash, slash, slash, slash. It gets pretty old.

True. I have nothing against the concept of sword characters, and if they can find a way to give them a lot of variety somehow I'm game. But even if he/she was drastically different than the others, I think even one more sword characters would be more than enough.

I personally love swords. the majority of characters I use/plan to use are sword users (Most wanted being Ganondorf)

I would like to see some weapon verity though. like a spear, axe or rapier (I know it's still a sword, but it's way different in how it's used).

BAH! They should put Prince Poo from Earthbound in! He's:

1. From the, arguably, BEST RPG

2. Would be quite unique

3. A hellofa lot cooler then Ness

More would be fine, but too much is like having too much Pokemon.

It's quite likely, that considering Japan's history of swords, a very large percentage of video game characters, especially heroes, do use them. I suppose, therefore, it is inevitable that we'll have a fair few characters using swords. Nobody seems to question the amount of characters just using their fists, however.
I do think we need to see more characters using other weapons, though. King Dedede and Krystal are perfect examples. Mallets and Staffs ftw!

most people refer to fire emblem characters wen it comes to swords, i like the idea of black night but i think there will only be about 2 fire emblem representitives so ike and black knight IMO
