Well, I just got off Wi-Fi after getting kicked around mercilessly by a Peach main. i couldn't figure out why I was suddenly getting my face bashed in so many times and I kept on making mistakes. Then I realized that it was because I was playing Ganon like Metaknight. I was charging in like a madman, hoping to control the flow of the game. Sometimes, Offensive Ganon doesn't work well, as I've found out.

So, basically, I think that a major part of Ganon's gameplay is playing defensively. Of course, before you start flaming me for stating the obvious, I also believe playing Ganon offensively works as well. For example, I have to play an "in your face" style of fighting whenever I fight my friend who mains Falco, or when I go aginst ROBS and Wolfs. But, for most everyone without a spammable projectile, a defensive Ganon must be played in order to win.

In the end, switching gears between an offensive and defensive style of play for Ganon is necessary if you want to win. For spammy characters, you've got to let them know they're fighting on your terms by setting the pace and playing offensively. For everyone else, play defensively.

Just a little food for thought. Discuss.

I main Bowser but second Ganondorf and the idea seems much the same. Our characters aren't, honestly, as good as most of our opponents so it seems to me that against characters like Peach you have to pretend to play offensively sometimes and bait them into making mistakes. Mix up our game, and never ever be predictable or we're going to get punished and lose badly.

I try to be in their face, but try to mix baiting out their spot dodge/air dodge/what have you with full out offensive play after they don't feel so confident dodging anymore. I've never found playing defensively to work well with a slow power character. Against Bowser/Ganondorf a lot of people seem to like to wait for them to do something and then avoid and punish it. I find it easier with Bowser but in both cases I have to apply a lot of pressure to whoever I'm fighting or I get in trouble fast. Trading hits is always a good thing with a heavyweight.

Very true, rushing in head first always hurts me when i play as him. For some reason slowly approaching and spot dodging works for me (some of the time), but yeah as you slowly approach your opponent, i think they are more afraid of you because ganondorf no matter how slow he is, still strikes fear in his opponents. :)
