Sakurai did mention perfect timing with Corrin's inclusion, so I guess that answers the question.
She was the ballot character she would've likely been chosen by September when the number of slots in the Smash data increased by one.One issue.
being worked on co-currently. Taking a similar amount of workload, especially with both having two fully functional model variants. IF ANYTHING, Bayonetta came first because she required liscencing in terms of choosing.
Presumably, they've known that they would have the T rating range from near the start if not the very start of the work for whatever promotional character they would've chosen.

It definitely did say "RP - T" at the beginning of the Direct.
I dunno if the game's rating has changed or if the Bayonetta content is just rated T.

Yeah.
The CERO and PEGI ratings were effectively for Teens already.
The ESRB rating of E-10+ was the one that raised the most flags.

Bayonetta's individual trailer upload still says E-10.
I don't know why the like 30 seconds of Fates footage would push the T rating, though.
Going to check the Corrin Chooses to Smash trailer to check the rating.

I don't think you raise an ESRB rating of a game through DLC.
I know for Injustice: Gods Among Us, the Lobo DLC adds tobacco use to the rating, but I'm pretty sure the ESRB won't allow a rating to get bumped up/down.

So.
I wanna share something absolutely silly that happened last year with a few friends.
It was a fairly late night Skype call of about 5 people.
At least some parties were most likely drunk to some extent.
And the challenge came up.
Someone starts a song, and then you try to cut them off by leading into another song's lyrics that "flow together," and judged kinda on a case by case thing if it's too off to properly fit. Winner is whoever goes a sufficient amount without being challenged. Once agian, case-by-case.
There was a bonus to it.
Has to be a Sonic the Hedgehog song. And you can't use a song that's already been used.
I replayed that session a few times through my head at work until I remembered how it went.
And yes, these are all official lyrics (or at least we thought they were)

The only lyrical songs I think we missed are Rouge's theme for SA2, Big's theme in SA1, and the themes for Rush & Rush Adventure.

I remember arguing that, considering Tharja's trophy was removed for being too risqué, Bayonetta would never make it in since she had more sex appeal than her.

Still, I wonder what led to Bayonetta's inclusion being okay, but not Tharja's trophy. That said, they did tone down Bayonetta quite a bit, though she still has a lot of sex appeal. Did the rating boards loosen their criteria over the last year or something?
Well, I guess that different people work on reviewing games at the rating boards, so some subjectivity may be a factor. I'd say it's unrealistic to assume all games are analyzed by the same group of people considering there are always many games being released and checking an entire game's content can be time consuming.
