Wow, I find another game made by Level-5, it's called Liberation Maiden, revolving a female protagonist with her giant robot destroying bases. This is bizarre.

It's on sale, but I think I'm buying Boxboy instead.

You can always tell how many cats a person owns just by looking at how many collectibles they have out in the open. I only have about 13 Amiibo myself and I can't put any of them anywhere without my cats pushing them onto the floor.
Nice heartless btw.
I always was more of a dog person. :p

It's unbelievable how it's less than a week till Xenoblade X is released in the West. To think the game was first unveiled nearly 3 years ago.

So, here's some music.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - The way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAjRKRmw0Sk

For those who like the game's soundtrack, here are two similar songs, also by Hiroyuki Sawano:
Guilty Crown - Home ~In this corner~: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc2qwt46dTk
Blue Exorcist - Too Late to Say: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTGuyRGdEK4

And a bit of trivia: did you know that the XCX character designer, Kunihiko Tanaka, also did the designs for Xenogears, the first "Xeno" game by Tetsuya Takahashi?

Needless to say, I'm hyped for this game. A shame that I still need to get a Wii U... Thankfully, there is a bundle coming.

And I also need to finish Xenoblade on my New 3DS, but thankfully, X isn't a story sequel to the original.

I'm late to the handheld stuff from pages ago but whatevs

They're better off staying with the dual screens.

All I really want on the future handheld is that it gets better power than the 3DS, proper analog sticks and just have better quality because the 3DS is like 240p lol

Also I'm not really sure about 3D. They did it better with New 3DS so that's up in the air.

I didn't ever have a problem with the 3D even on the OG 3DS.

Though I'd say they should drop it if they want to make the next handheld much more powerful.

NX is looking to be a console/handheld hybrid though so I wouldn't expect a brand new standalone handheld for a while.

mfw this is an area theme

Also regarding Jojo: I've read every part at least 3 times each and watched the anime multiple times as well. That being said, I'm obviously not a fan. :troll:

Amazing, I know. :awesome:

I haven't listened to the entire OST yet. Gotta save some songs for the game itself.

If you like the XCX OST, I recommend checking out other OSTs by the same artist. Given that you watch anime, I'm sure you have come across some of them already. :p

And well, I will be off for a while. Have work to do. A chore, but hey, music makes everything better.

Where did that hybrid thing come from in the first place anyways

I'm not sure if it's only happening because "handhelds are dying"

Multiple studios who have received NX dev kits have said it's a handheld/console hybrid that is allegedly more powerful than the PS4. I believe Iwata (R.I.P) may have also said it is a handheld/console hybrid in one of his investor meetings, but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't really want a Mahjong tile amiibo. :p

I finished Shovel Knight's main game this morning. It was an alright game, some design issues but for the most part solid.

I went into it with high expectations as everyone seemed to make it out it was some kind of masterpiece.

Weren't those just rumors though? All I've heard from Iwata was him saying NX was just a "dedicated gaming device," nothing about hybrids. Obviously this could be Nintendo just not wanting to talk about it until next year, so they just say dedicated gaming device.

Although personally I think hybrids are impractical, maybe it's just gonna be a GamePad-like thing that you can plug in onto the TV and use it as a home device. Take it out and it's a handheld. But eh we'll see.

Can you elaborate on those design issues?
I don't remember anything negative about the game tbh.

There is also a patent that got leaked from Nintendo of a handheld/console hybrid. While it might not be for the NX, the fact that developers are also claiming the NX is that leads me to believe it will be.

Also it's more likely the comparison will be along the lines of what Remote Play and Cross-Play on PS4 and Vita are all about.

So I've thought of a fun thing to discuss, what if Nintendo remade Subspace Emissary?
First off, the rules.
1. All the characters in Brawl must be in this, and have a major role.
2. Cut Melee characters that were brought back in smash4 must have a major role as well.
3. 1st party characters from smash 4 that were in existence before Brawl's release (:4littlemac::4villager::4palutena::4bowserjr::4duckhunt:) must have a role in the story.
4. You can add :4pacman:and:4megaman: if you want.

5. The most important rule. All characters must be introduced, before you enter Subspace.

6. This still has the same story as the original so you can't change the actual story too much, but you can incorporate more characters into the story, and give characters bigger roles than what they had in the first subspace.
I think that's a pretty fun thought experiment. These are some ideas I had:
  • Have Megaman join up with Samus in the Research Facility. Add the Yellow Devil as a boss.
  • Bowser Jr. is one of the main antagonists.
  • Toon Link shipwrecks on an island and has to fend off shadow Marios, octoroks, etc. After defeating them, Bowser Jr. appears and tries to shoot him with one of those Dark Cannon things, but Villager appears out of nowhere and pockets it. The duo then fight Bowser Jr. who flees afterward. Villager and Toon Link then build a raft and leave the island.
  • Little Mac's gym gets invaded by primids and his first stage involves him taking them out to escape and confronting a new boxing primid boss. After escaping, Little Mac sees a bunch of primids heading to a concert hall in the city. His next stage has him running through the city to head towards the concert hall. In the concert hall level he meets Jigglypuff and the two of them fight Darkrai.
  • Pac-Man meets up with the Duck Hunt Duo in a country setting and they eventually join up with Little Mac and Jigglypuff.
I'm not really sure what to do with Palutena or Wolf without significantly changing the stuff that was in the original SSE, but I'm also not very good at coming up with story ideas, so yeah...

I don't know how well Dr. Mario would fit either. I guess Roy could be added to the Marth, Meta Knight, and Ike group. Maybe Mewtwo could be an antagonist who wasn't aligned with the Subspace army or something.

I don't remember anything negative about the game tbh.
Mostly in the earlier levels, many of the pits looked as though they were just platforms which caused me to try to jump on them. I also experienced some clipping issues, and some weird light flashes in one of the later stages.

Like I said, overall a solid game even with a few issues. Kind of forgettable in the grand scheme of things, especially in music and writing. Could have done with being longer and offering more diversity in the level design too.

Anvil isn't afraid of showing his huge love to Banjo and dislike towards SK, thought it'd be a good laugh
When have I ever said I disliked Shovel Knight? If I disliked it, would I have bought the game? Would I have the Amiibo pre-ordered?

Man the lack of X/Y, Start and Select buttons is weird.

Those analog sticks seem like Circle Pads to me. It doesn't really look like a controller to me; maybe it's a new handheld concept?

It's a patent (and that's not all of it either, just the handheld part), and patents don't actually give you the full idea of what they are doing. Just a rough outline. Just because there are only a few buttons here in the patent, doesn't mean they won't have more on the actual thing. They're basically just saying "this is roughly where the buttons will be".

This also was never supposed to be seen by consumers, it's meant for them to seal copyrights and what not.

If we got a Subspace style adventure mode and there wasn't at least one point where Mario, Sonic Mega Man and Pac Man teamed up against an army of enemies, Sakurai would have some questions to answer. :V

I use to always fantasize about Subspace story ideas... I remember one in which Mario and Sonic ended up being on a team together against Bowser and Eggman, both of whom were working under Ganon/Master Hand/Tabuu/Sakurai and at one point, Eggman would back stab Bowser, injecting him with some shadow bugs or something as an experiment, and it resulted in him changing into Giga Bowser, whom would be a boss for the duo.

...I was like, 13-14 okay? :V I do miss Giga Bowser as an actual boss though.

I thought the music was great. I agree with the being longer part but for a 15 dollar indie game, it was decently long like a Mega Man game.

Have you tried Plague Knight by the way? I actually liked it more than the original. The burst mechanic and movement options were great and pretty unique.

Plauge Knight is so OP compared to Shovel Knight, it's insane in the most amazingly fun way.

It also shows how much of a cheating **** Shovel Knight actually is. I KNOCKED YOU OUT TWICE YOU ROTTEN VICTORY YOINKER. Shovelry does not outdo chivalry, you don't DESERVE Shield Knight.

...*ahem*.

Hm...well, all I can say is that I never encountered any of these issues and liked the music and writing quite a lot.
So agree to disagree then.

"Man this song sure has been playing for awhile"
*It's been half an hour
*Still another half left

and this is just the regular battle theme. Bravely second cant come soon enough.
/randomRamblings
Bravely Default's OST is pretty great. Have you ever heard the piano arrangement of "That Person's Name Is" that someone did? It's probably my favorite version of that song.

Apparently, Bravely Second has a different composer, so I'm not sure if the music is as good in that game as it was in Bravely Default. I'm a fan of Magnolia's battle theme though.

I wasn't a huge fan of Shovel Knight's level design, to be honest. A lot of the levels introduced a gimmick and then proceeded to lean way too hard on it.

The relics also made it way too easy too cheese your way through the game, and I felt that there was almost no penalty for death. I mean, yeah, you lose some gold, but you can easily get enough gold to buy anything worth buying 3/4 of the way through the game.

Good, but not great game in my opinion.

I wish I still owned this game...
