My top 3 newcomer reveals that impacted me, in order of least impactful to most impactful, were (also apologies if I'm misinterpreting, I didn't see the initial question):

Pretty self-explanatory. It's ****ing Cloud Strife getting into Smash, someone who is definitely more of a Playstation icon than anything. However, he really does fit, since he's also an icon for JRPGs, something that's quite big with Nintendo. I didn't play FFVII because I didn't really like what I played of it, and Cloud was never my favourite FF character, but I have plenty of exposure to him due to Advent Children, Kingdom Hearts, Dissidia, and Crisis Core. My brother also loves him, Cloud is pretty much his dream character for Smash, same with one of my best friends. So yeah, it was just a really cool addition all around. Definitely wasn't leaked, and nobody expected him. Pure awesome reveal without a doubt.

The first newcomer reveal I got excited for and at the time, probably my second most wanted. I had been playing through some Mega Man and Mega Man X games at that time period. I was also doing my Leaving Cert exams (a tough period to be sure) at the time and came home from an English exam to this. Considering how down in the dumps and stressed I was at the time, seeing Mega Man in Smash just really made my entire day. And of course, everyone wanted him, so everyone got what they wanted. :V

She was my most wanted character and she's my favourite Nintendo character as well as my favourite female character in fiction (really she's just one of my favourite characters in general :V). So naturally she had an impact on me personally, I was so happy when she showed up and totally blew my expectations out of the water...I mean just the fact that freaking LUMAS became pretty much fully playable because of her is amazing in itself - who expected THAT? And I really like Lumas too so it was just a cool surprise for me. However, even from a more objective, general standpoint, I still think she had one of the best trailers. It was the first newcomer announcement since the initial reveal trailer of Smash 4, and they didn't have the fiery Smash logo at the start in the actual Direct. It's also one of the longest trailers and has a nice, long run of cinematic CGI to it. It was also used as a red herring for two other things I wanted - first it tricked me briefly into thinking it was gonna be some Kirby's Air Ride sequel or remaster, and then tricked me into thinking Kirby would be in Mario Kart 8. Which was pretty fantastic and I would not have minded at all if the trailer was for either of those things. But nope, it ended up being the best possible thing next to a Rosalina game for Wii U.

The only thing I can really criticise it for, is that Rosalina herself doesn't get enough screen time in the CGI portion, which is ironic as she's supposed to be the main event, but that's about it.

Also in general, it made me happy to see that Nintendo saw announcing her for two games (she also got a trailer for MK8 after the Smash reveal) as worthy of a "Direct finale". That was impactful as Rosalina was always a guilty pleasure for me before that, I never really talked about how much I loved the character. But after being confirmed as playable and as well as being the big promotional poster girl for three of Nintendo's biggest games on Wii U, it pretty much showed me how she's way more popular and iconic than I otherwise realised. So I pretty much embraced my Rosalina fandom full force from that point on.

Also I joined Smashboards because of this trailer. I wanted to hang out with other people who liked the character, and she also got me to start thinking about my Smash predictions a little more. I started to somewhat anticipate her reveal after she was announced for 3D World but I was still really shocked, if only because everyone seemed to consider Daisy, Waluigi, and Bowser Jr over her (which in retrospect, is baffling).

She also wasn't leaked as far as I know. If she was, it wasn't widespread or credible enough to influence the community. As a result, she wasn't someone I was STRONGLY considering likely at the time.

Also, the Miiverse post where Sakurai reveals Rosalina, is his second most "Yeah'd" Miiverse post (only to the group photo of Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man), and by a large margin too. Not only was she impactful to me personally, but I think her reveal is one of the most impactful ones in general, and it doesn't get enough credit for that.
