...I never argued it was meant to be a must play for newcomers. All I'm saying is it's confusing for a popular game to be so low on the list.

:4cloud: Speculation gets turned on its head and it is an awesome character with awesome looking moves. PLus it got me to buy FF7 which is fun. Can't wait to play more of the series.

Then :4robinf::4lucina:. At the time they were 2nd and 3rd most wanted and they made speculation new again.

Last was :4littlemac:My original most wanted before I joined speculation. Seeing the reveal was awesome. Plus Doc and the pink suit showed up which made it 100 times better.

This is was one of the main complaints the game received, content exclusive to Story mode(and the Grimoire system, but I'll get on that later)
But even with its flaws, it's still enjoyable
It also has some cutscenes that look more like a low budget anime and I love it :p

So I'm gonna assume you are playing Story mode then, so, have some general tips:
-don't bother with the Grimoire System, it's suppossed to help but it's too RNG based to be worth anyone's trouble, it's optional so you won't require them to beat the game(the Story party is balanced enough so they fill most battle roles)
-do the pub quests, generally, 2 or 3 are unlocked after reaching a new floor. Do them even if the reward sucks(and they mostly do) you can get lots of experience and reduce any grinding you would need and also unlock other quests from that quest chain
-don't trust squirrels
-you can run with the B butoon! /NoA Twitter
-leave auto-maping on, saves you some time
-don't get greedy with Skill Points in the Custom menu, focus on a specific build of the character(say, either Physical or Elemental shots for Gunner), if you somehow mess up or you want to try another build, you can Rest and reset their SP on the Explorer's Guild at the cost of two levels
-don't leave your Medic on the front line, or your Alchemist, or your Troubadour, or literally anything that isn't a melee damage dealer or tank
And most importantly:
-DO NOT RUN INTO FOES, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO FIGHT THEM, AVOID DEERS AT ALL COSTS!

Paper Mario seems to have another unique ability that wasn't mentioned until i realised it: he can defend. It's jsut what it sounds like, you press X and he will do the TTYD defend pose and take much less damage, what is very interesting is that this is coming from his gameplay in SS, but that gameplay part did came from TTYD.

Again, this is something interesting because they really almost never mention SS (maybe cause they know what people think of the game), but they reuse the mechanic that was....I guess fine on their own. Though, tbh honest with you, it's a smart idea to keep the defend mechanic because m&l again, it's more execution than strategy so allowing this mechanic makes Paper Mario.......I guess fit better.

Btw, i just thought of soemthing mind blowing, the jump where you have multiple copy......it's from SS, even the fact of him getting copied several times is from SS, more specifically this sticker:



This is big shiny clone jump, forget the big shiny, all it does is you have multiple jump because Paper Mario clones himself with 4 copies which does the jumps. The only difference in m&l is you make 6 copies, but the attack is essentially the same as the Paper Mario all do each one jump and they are relaying the attack one after another which is what happens in paper jam.

Now, again, this mechanic in SS: it really doesn't do much, but in paper jam? It's more an addition and a good thing for paper mario more than anything because it is exactly like a normal jump action command in SS which I will say it now, is much better than the TTYD or pm64 one as it has more button presses, I just wish the action command were as hard as TTYD because SS was a joke.

M&l however, they are always fine in terms of action command input so it would be better.

Also, we are exactly a week away from the release in JP, maybe someone could dump a decrypted rom for me so i can rip the data off, but we'll see :)

Please tell to me if you find any reference to the older PM games, especially SPM. I'm kinda losing my hype for this game the more i see of it. :/

This is more of a Mario & Luigi game than a Paper Mario game, so Im wouldnt get my hopes up for Paper Mario mechanics.

Yeah, but i would more like tosee "reference" than gameplay element. I'm totally OK that the gameplay is more M&L-esque but please. Nintendo. Tell me that you didn't forget the 3 PM that we're before SS. Please. Only a small cameo would make me happy.

Trying to go through these things has reminded of how many Mario and Zelda games I've yet to play/finish. I think it's probably pretty pointless to rank games I haven't completed, so I'll just say I like Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario 64 DS, Majora's Mask, and Spirit Tracks a bunch.

Super Mario 3D World took what I enjoyed about New Super Mario Bros. Wii (co-op multiplayer) and added another thing I like a lot (multiple playable characters with different strengths/weaknesses) so it's hard for me to not consider it my favorite Mario game. Pretty much everyone I've played it with has had a blast too, which is a big point in its favor for me. Having different playable characters in Super Mario 64 DS was also kind of neat.

A lot has been said about MM, so I won't go on about it. Spirit Tracks is quirky and has magical trains and ghost Zelda, which somehow puts it above everything but MM for me for some reason. I'm weird.

Honestly, it's emotional wrecking rivals that of modern Disney movies when you watch it as an older person.
