When I was supporting Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (still proud of dropping 200 smackeroos on that), I almost backed Mighty No. 9 (both Kickstarters started a week apart).
It's sad the whole MN9 hate train seems to have no brakes.
So....I'm competing against...an orangutan, squall, the sun and moon starters, Captain America and his squad, skyla with an arm cannon, shroom sniffing pac-man, ganondorf, the lunatic fringe, and mutha ****ing Gordan Ramsey?
Good thing I'm a galactic bounty hunter that drove several hostile races to extinction while destroying four planets in the process...
I get what you mean here, but technically this is not correct. Game carts/discs/whatever do not contain "ROM" or "ISO" files. Instead, these files are representations or copies of the contents of the disc, packaged together in a single file(not unlike a zip archive, for instance). ROM files contain basically a raw copy of all the files on a disc, while ISOs preserve the file system and directory structure of the disc.
Also note that ISO isn't the only format for disk imaging. There are many others, such as CUE/BIN, IMG, and more. Mac users should (as I understand it) be somewhat familiar with the DMG disk imaging format.
Of course, I'm not really an expert here, so for all I know I'm talking out of my gluteus maximus here.
Edit: Of course, your overall point is correct. How each system stores files on the disk is probably different, to say nothing of the executable code and such that will actually be run.

I just didn't want to go into the nitty gritty of it here like you did.
But the difference in how a ROM and ISO works is exactly why porting games from one system to another, especially if one uses discs and one uses cartridges, is exactly why you can't just "run the ROM" on a different system and expect it to work.

Yeah I get what you mean. But I'm a computer nerd and couldn't resist the urge to be pedantic/show off my dubiously useful knowledge of how this stuff works.
A Distant Demon
One warning for Bravely Second.
Prepare to have to NG+ due to a prevailing "mechanic" across the game
There are a significant number of side quests that make you choose one asterisk at the cost of another. With a total of 30 jobs in the entire game.
So far I have 15 jobs, 21 technically because of 6 side stories giving me a choice. Lv36

If I have to pick between two awesome jobs i'm going to be pissed.
Unrelated but do you know if they biffed the Valkyrie class? I LOVE spear users (FFIV will be fun if I remember correctly) but when I used that class in BD it seemed like it was complete garbage stat wise and ability wise (ignoring exploiting jump and hasten world)
I think it has to do with the fact that WayForward have been pretty vague about Half-Genie Hero's release date. That, and WayForward probably had to make some licensed games to pay the bills.
Way Forward have only had one stated delay. (Edit: Which was like November 2015 to now a tenative "2016" release, probably in part of Way Forward making some other games during the development)
Way Forward has been putting out more periodic updates and very frequently had user-input through varying polls.
Keiji Inafune has had a number of delays, with most of the reasonings stated being for what appear to be fairly minor factors.
He also went HARD on pressing this with the stretching ideas for things like the cartoon show.
Then Mighty No. 9's gameplay differences from Megaman have basically been met solely with upset voices, unlike the variance from say Azure Striker Gunvolt from Megaman X.
Then in the middle of this bit of a trainwreck of development, he's... pressed on this entire new project of Red:Ash which ALSO put out over-ambitous goals such as getting a movie for the game's story and the structuring being very episodic which REALLY soured the tastes in people's minds.
TL;DR: Way Forward have, in a sense, been more professional, more interactive with their fans, and more focused in what people wanted.

There's only been one real time I've been torn on a choice.
Theif or Red Mage = Red Mage
Summoner or Sword Master = Sword Master (you can't get both the summoner job and all summons in one cycle anyways)
White Mage or Merchant = White Mage
Black Mage or Hunter = Black Mage
Knight or Ninja = Went Ninja and a liiiiittle regretting it because evasion hasn't been in my favor
Valkyrie or Monk = THIS WAS THE TOUGH ONE. I want Valkyrie because honestly it's the group encounters of enemies that have been giving me more strife than the bosses.

1st, 4th, and 5th are super tough choices for me. I mean. . . the first one is two of my favorite classes
In my FF3 run I have Luneth as the second and Refia as the first and they're my MVPs. This is going to suck hard :/
Expect me to complain about this immediately after I get to that part because it sounds like terrible game design, especially based on the premise of the 2 games.

....
Sonic Boom isn't a good example because those were two entirely different games on entirely different systems and this'd be largely the same ROM being played on varying other systems?
Yes different roms, but that could actually still help my point. They build them similarly, but a sysem may end up with one problem that another doesn't have, or something could go work. Multi platform could lead to problems, but I wouldn't say it's a big issue if it ends up bad upon release.
I think... I think this comparison will kinda share one view on the comparison of MN9 to HGH
A big promotional effect, focusing namely on action and all these extra modes with little that's actually focused on main gameplay and... some strained attempts to be humorous.
Short. Without a word. All gameplay.
Letting the game and effort speak for itself in the core kind of adventure it's going to bring.
Yes I'm biased towards HGH but still.
Edit: And the former was made 6 months later into the dev cycle.
