Robin had the luck of being paired with an actual Marth clone to help deflect a lot of the "anime swordsmen" complaints.

He still got them, of course, but I think she took a lot of the heat that would've been directed towards him otherwise.

Wow, what a day. I never thought in a million years that Cloud would have ever been added into Smash. Yet again, Sakurai has proven himself, for better or worse, that Sakurai is a master of surprises.

This is good because it shows that only legendary characters will be added as third-party character. Cloud, being the protagonist of FFVII, the best selling-game in the franchise that made JRPGs popular with the mass consumers and the franchise that defines the backbone of JRPGs, shows that this is still intact (which is why I was worried about the Shovel Knight rumor coming true as it would be an relatively obscure third-party character potentially getting in). However, I am hoping that this doesn't mean that last two characters are going to be third-parties as it would be highly disappointing to not have at least one Nintendo newcomer.

AC has become a rather hot pile of repetitive garbage as far as I'm concerned but no lie an assassin's outfit in Smash would be kinda neat.

No obligations to buy it or anything so whatever. Mainline AC has actually been on Nintendo systems unlike most AAA franchises these days.

With Cloud and Ryu here, Sakurai should really bring back Snake. And add Crash, Jill Valentine, Lara Croft, and Spyro, thus ensuring that no one will ever be happy with whatever roster a Sony All Star Battle Royale sequel might have.
