I've really liked the music so far. Yes, some of it is cheesy, but that's part of why I like it. I don't expect Brawl to be classy...

Meh everything's been said >_>

Clearly the music isn't being made for one person, nor is it being made for one age group. I love the Armada Song (which is ironic because I hated Corneria) and I don't really like the Kid Icarus one, but I don't mind it being there because I like variety. I also know that someone else will like the Icarus one if only for nostalgia or whatever.

And why would anyone say the music is being rushed? To me that's illogical. Brawl has been in the works for ( has to be between 2-6 years) and one group of 30+ composers are assigned the music portion. That's not rushed.

Actually, Brawl development started December 2005 and the game releases December 3, 2007... the more you think about it, it's a little under two years to maybe exactly so. That's not about the same as Melee's development though since that game was rushed but still turned out good.

Anyway, I've liked the music I've heard and people complaining about the quality: These are SAMPLES! >_<

Yes, they are samples... However, we can't be so sure exactly what "sample" means. I'm thinking that it only means that it's a shortened version of them, which makes me sad.

I fear that, that's all it means.

That being said, my only real complaint (aside from the songs not really being as good IMO as the ones from Melee.) is the lack of orchestration. I just don't like the MIDI instruments anymore. The Brawl Theme song, which is obviously orchestrated, should set the bar for the rest of the songs/pieces in the game.

To worry about the music is just going to far XD
It seems you people are not taking in consideration the quality of the musicians in Brawl....

They will not gather that bunch of muscicians and waste a lot of money paying them,, just to do a rushed and crappy soundtrack.

From Sakurai words.. there will be some music tunes which will be copy and paste form the original games..... but im VERY sure that the 2 or 3 songs each musucian will do... will be a very good production itself... They are practically going head to head there so see wich musician gives the best remix to the game. Given the magnitude of thisproject (which is maybe the biggest of Nintendo in a long time).... they will not just give craop to sakurai.

This soundtack will be Epic and i dont want anyone to have a single doubt about it.

Everyone is worrying WAY too much over the music. We have to remember a few things:

1. The musicians working on game's musical score is a freakin' all star team of musicians. These are the geniuses behind the music that drove the original games many years ago.

2. We are only getting samples of the music. I have a feeling that these samples may have a cheaper quality to reduce bandwidth and so people can download them quicker. Another reason why they may sound "cheap" is because the song isn't even finished yet.

3. I don't agree with statements like "Sakurai and team are going for quantity over quality", or even visa versa. I think the team will be able to compose many songs with high quality. Remember everyone...this team has spent many years working on this game, inlcuding the music!

4. Brawl is a Smash game, thus everything about it will be amazing (which would also include the music)

The main theme from the E3 trailer is too "Final Fantasy-ish?"

That couldn't have anything to do with the guys from Final Fantasy composing and performing it. No way.

No one music piece will ever be liked by everyone. I, for one, have liked the selections we have been given thus far. Everyone has different taste and maybe this is where the quantity factor you mentioned may be needed. With so many possible selections, I doubt there will be anyone who will complain because they couldn't find something they liked.

Also, in regards to "quantity over quality", I don't think this will be an issue. Although, admittedly, when so much quantity becomes involved it becomes more difficult and more important to maintain that same level of quality.

Though, some may not agree, I think that this is a situation where one will not be sacrificed for the other. I think we will have our cake and eat it too....or something like that.

Melee was an incredibly classy game... I'm sure brawl won't disappoint...
Classy? Oh yeah, I forgot how classy a fat plumber chasing an electric rat and a futuristic racer around the top of a spaceship with an over sized hammer was...

"Over-the-top" is kinda what Smash is about. There's some classy parts, and those parts have classy songs, like Fountain of Dreams (I still don't think that merits calling Melee 'incredibly classy', but that's not the point of my post).

However, quite a bit of Smash is ridiculous, and so it doesn't worry me when some of Brawl's music is ridiculous, over-the-top, whatever. In fact, it'd be more concerning if it wasn't.

Edit: oops... roommate's account. This is gnosis. =/

It’s been well documented and noticed that many Smashers are taking a great dislike to Brawl’s music so far, often sighting that the music is “rushed” or “A bad corruption of what it was in *Insert home game here* or anything negative about it. What's up with this?

[/I]
Are u serious?? u say most people dont like the music??? well, i havent noticed that, but if thats the case they really dont know sh*t about great music! i mean, there are some tracks that i dont like, but because ive never liked them, not because the new arrangement is bad itself

The music as always been great in smash, and with the new composers (or however theyre called) it couldnt get any better

In my opinion the Zelda remix was just poop. It could have easily be done by an OverClocked Remixer without any effort. Now I do like Go K.K. Rider, because it actually does fit in with K.K. singing.

However, most music could have been done better. The Underworld song could be way better if it was fully orchestrated. It now sounds like a synthesized rushed piece. Ridley's theme could easily be done with overdrive guitars, not that synthesized garbage.

Of course, some songs are good. Armada for example sound pretty good, and the Pokémon Stadium song is also decent. But overall it could have used more effort and time. Because, if Metal Gear Solid can, why not Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

Why are people so edgy... It's just music for god's sake, I think some people should get a life instead of pondering about the music of some yet unreleased game... *goes outside*

I think the music is awesome so far. I also think that if we can battle Fox on Falco to Dreamland, we can battle to the new Pokemon Stadium theme.

Also, here is hoping we get an MGS theme from the guys who did the MGS music. MGS has some of the best music in gaming in my opinion. I would set all the stages to an MGS theme...haha.

Yeah.... Actually, I like all the music except for the Armada and the Pokemon ones. So, yeah, I don't really think he's going for quantity; The music in this game is drastically better than that in Melee.

Lol Bajef and Neokun don't double post.

The music in Brawl should be fine. Sakurai should now know the music taste of smashers. Right now all we have are samples so it's a bit too early to start making assumptions.

Yes we do have only shoddy versions of the songs...

They will sound better in the game...

and on top of that there will probably be another sound track they release with a whole bunch of other songs ;)

I'll be happy as long as the Super Metroid intro / credits song is in there. And i'm pretty sure it will.

The problem in my opinion is not that the music is "too epic" or not remixed well. I think that the remixes are good enough for a fighting game that doesn't need too much depth in the music. My problem is that the music sounds like crap because it's all done in cheap midi format rather than a full blown live orchestra. Now don't get me wrong - I know there are some songs that don't need to be orchestrated. But listen to the Ocarina of Time theme, you can't deny that it would sound much better if done with a full orchestra. It's disappointing because the main theme led me to believe that the whole game would be orchestrated.

So basically, I don't find much wrong with the remixes, its just the way that they are created that really irks me. Nintendo already broke its promise that Twilight Princess's music would be orchestrated, so I have this feeling that SSBB will be midi too.
