How is this not locked yet?

Anyway a far more viable way of doing this would be a simple taunt like

Contact me!
SWF:Fanewgie

.. with the second line being any form of communication (AIM/MSN/SWF/etc.) and username for said form.

There. Simple. Do I win a prize?

Edit: er, nevermind half of that. Taunts are disabled in random matches aren't they? Solution: don't play random matches because they're going to suck anyway.

No, because in random matches, you can't exchange taunts.

Edit: Yes they are or this topic would have been even more insane.

It still is insane. We're sitting here as an organized Smash Bros. community wondering overly complicated ways of communicating in matches that don't permit communication.

It begs the question; why are we having random matches as part of an ORGANIZED COMMUNITY?

Being ORGANIZED means we should have no trouble with friends matches that do permit communication. Meaning the combatants in random matches will not frequent SWF, and therefore not even know a cryptic system that was made up in the first place.

Anon Online Matches are 4 players.

You could always just play with thousands of people who are spewing their friend code all over the forums, and not worry about this difficult method of finding new people to play. I can't imagine there will be any shortage of people to who are looking for a match on the boards.

Plus I don't think anyone remembers that you can't have 2 player online matches at this point in time. So if you can't find someone on the boards to play, you're probably not going to find four people who all want to crouch and duck to exchange their names.

Side note: I've seen two other threads exactly like this one, and if I EVER see someone try this in a match, they will be receiving a hasty Falcon Punch or the equivalent.

This is just a really ******** idea altogether...

The facts:

-We have friend codes for this reason.

-Randomized battles does not mean randomized battles with SWF members, this means randomized battles with EVERYONE! This means that you may be fighting someone only to find that they are some 8 yr. old kid in milwaukee who has never heard of SWF.

-It is just stupid. Really stupid.

I'll support this. It's like Nintendo thinks they've won... and then WHAMO, they realize that nothing can stop communication.

How about a bit of a comprimise? Maybe everyone from SWF just ducks a coupla times at the start of a match?

I think this is really a good idea, as it's the only option Sakurai has given us. The negative response is probably all the noobs who don't care about finding a good match talking.

Or we could just use one of our taunts in a match to tell them to go to Smash World Forums for exchanging Wii friend codes. That's my idea.

Seriously, the random matchup feature will just be there for when I am completely bored. I'm not looking forward to Brawl wi-fi to play millions of strangers. I want to have good smashfests with friends who are far away. Just exchange friend codes with people and play! There is no point in trying to redeem every random opponent as a friend.

You're on Smashboards for a reason. If you go up against a non-SWF member or someone who doesn't know this "code," tell me how far you fall behind in the match, especially if you have a long name.
