I’m really excited/nervous for the direct! The thought of Isaac happening would be insane. I know I haven’t really posted that often, I spend the majority of the time just lurking, but it would just be amazing to see everyone here finally get him, especially considering there have been people waiting 10+ years for him.


This is my biggest fear about the direct tomorrow. Also, weren’t some insiders saying one of the characters on the mural was an AT (correct me if I’m wrong)? Stealth claiming the leak was fake and mentioning Isaac specifically....worries me.

There's no reason to believe so with how all over the place they are. Everyone has a different story from their own respective uncles who work at Nintendo. Currently, they're as credible as a kid posting his fanfiction on /v/.

We have the item that got leaked and the very possibly real Grinch leak, so as bizarre as it sounds Isaac's the single most likely character besides Shadow and Ken.

71. Chorus Kids (seem the most fitting for the middle)
ε ε. Ken&Shadow (if Shadow isn't an echo, Ken is revealed before him)

Good thing the Ultimate Direct will be on a holiday where I live and i'll visit my mother, if Isaac gets in I'll scream harder than Etika even if it starts at 11pm here.

EDIT: Banjo could be before or after Geno (if Banjo's last it could mean PapaGenos' theory as right). I made this with the mentality of the final reveal being a "one more thing" and therefore not having their content explained after the trailer, while optimizing general hype.

I will say, the initial disappointment of Isaac not being shown could weigh heavily on this thread for several days, maybe weeks. However, we must look up to Ridley fans as an example. The man himself said he could never happen, spawning an infamous meme in the community. Despite that, Ridley's hard core fans kept pushing for him, and look what happened!
I'm not saying Isaac will be AT'd or omitted entirely like smash 4, but I am saying it's possible. We're a great community and I know we can make it through whatever happens.

Since this is the final Direct for Smash Bros Ultimate, does it seem more or less likely that they would not be able to reveal a full 7 characters, even if two of them are Echos, in only 40 minutes?

It could be possible. Though I think for it to happen they'd need to not have much other than Spirits mode to show off.

If they start detailing miscellaneous modes like trophy mode for 10 minutes I'm going to lose hope.

Although I mostly believe your line up is correct. I feel that Banjo is also a character they might save for closer to last. I don't think he would be as far down as Geno, but maybe before or after Mach Rider.

The assist trophy is Chorus Kids, some speculate Isaac but that doesn’t make logistical sense. Waluigi And Bomberman got revealed early on. If Isaac we’re an assist he would have been among the initial batch revealed due to his very high popularity. It’s chorus kids because they got a decent amount of ballot support. This is because of members of gamexplain rooting for them super hard and pushing for them. But their support is nowhere near as much as the higher level fighters. This would line up with stealths comment yesterday, which directly addressed the launch roster. Emily roger and jon from gamexplain casting support for the character and golden sun in general. As well as sephazons continued confusion regarding Isaac.

The truth is, some insiders know there will be dlc. Some do not. Isaac’s name Is being passed around the community, some saying yes, some saying no. If he we’re an assist I’m confident some insider would have ripped that bandage off already. Isaac is very early DLC. Expect the tease at the end of the direct. The confusion comes from whether or not he’s dlc, in conjunction with that strange item. He was meant for launch (based on the golden sun item) but due to time constraights, he was reprioritized as dlc. This lines up with mewtwo and Lucas, who many insiders were aware about back in smash 4, all the way in the ESRB leak days.

This is my last discussion/analysis of the Grinch/Banner leak (I know a direct has been announced and we will know for sure then). There are two things that I have yet to see people talk about (in a significant manner) in regards to the leak. These are not as substantial as other pieces of evidence discussed but, might be worth noting anyway.

Spoiler: Two more details

1. The timing of the leak. If this is fake then the leaker decided to put a fake out on October 23 (or October 24 depending on location). We all knew that we were due for some more Smash news at the time. We all figured that any day they could announce something. The leaker threw this (well crafted "fake") leak into a minefield, completely unaware of when Sakurai would strike it down. If this leak had happened back in late September or even early October, the leak would be more likely to last longer.

2. The amount of luck the leaker has. If this was fake, ACP PLV could easily put out a statement that the maker of the fake was caught, fired, and/or is facing charges. The person who made this leak not only would have to get away undetected to avoid legal action, but would be betting on ACP PLV to not put out a statement (much like Marina PLV did) that would kill your leak. On top of all of that, soon after the leak came out Nintendo put out a short video that led to the discovery of a new item that many are claiming is evidence for Isaac. I highly doubt a fake leaker (even one good enough to make a fake this good), would have expected something like that to happen.

I'm sure many of you are sick and tired of discussing "the leak" and so am I. I did want to wrap up my final thoughts on the matter. I am still team neutral and have been that way since this leak came out. Whether this leak is true or not, I do not blame anyone for thinking it is real or fake. Discussions are common in speculation after all and a discussion involves different points of view. Nobody should feel bad for believing one way or another.

As a huuuuge Banjo fan, I like seeing that. I remember the Smash 4 cycle feeling a bit cruel for them, but I really enjoy seeing people view them with such high respect.

Would that really matter though, given it's the Final Direct? So assumedly we'll be getting all the remaining base characters, and the artwork doesn't usually update until the end of the Direct.

Let’s just go in hoping Isaac and not confirmation of the Grinch leak. I know we got 5 fighters last time, but 3 of those were Echo fighters as a reminder and didn’t require full on trailers in the same way (Though Richter did appear in one). Unique newcomers are likely to get a little more spotlight and take more time.

It’s possible that we could get that many, but do remember just how much else they have to get through in this Direct outside of characters and how much time Sakurai can spend on the small details. Don’t take the length to mean anything until it’s actually proven.

I find the prospect of the banner hinting on DLC kind of baloney due it'd implying the characters being probably quite ready enough to be on the banner, or be most likely showcased along the way in the Direct. Sounds like disc-locked content to me.

That is, if we actually get to see these characters be confirmed and the banner being real...

40 minute direct on Thursday, huh? this is gonna be a tense 48 hours indeed. given the lightning fast pace of past smash directs, i wouldn't be too worried about time-- especially since it's unlikely that Spirits will take more than 15 minutes to get through. the treehouse right after could also free up quite a bit of time!

unfortunately i should be in the middle of second period when it airs, so... perhaps i'll have to come down with some debilitating illness that day~
