I just started playing a little captain falcon, and I was wondering which characters he does well against, and which characters he is weak against. Any tips would be appreciated.

Well, one of his strenghts is the ability to combo floating characters pretty good (samus, peach, ganondorf, marth)
On the other hand, he can be combo'ed pretty easily cause he's a fast faller, so falco, fox or sheik can combo him pretty well.

He can combo everyone.

He has one of the best finishers in the game.

Chain throws.

Best/fastest dash in the game (best dd).

Moonwalk.

His Bair isn't as good as Ganondorf's, in my opinion. But it should knock them away far enough to eff their recovery.

Knee is always fun to, but not recommended from a ledge hop. Dair is alright, but you run the risk of your opponent meteor-canceling, which, if they know what they're doing, they will, should, and better. O_o

You can always freak them out to by throwing out some empty jumps off the edge. Example:

Run/jump off just far enough so that you know you can recover, but make it look like you're gonna throw an aerial (in this case, let's say, a knee) at them. Just recover then. It might freak them out to try and hold back on their recovery, in an attempt to take you out with them. Worth a shot, right? And if you make it back before they do, jump out again, but really hit them. :)

I just picked up Falcon myself, so that's all I can say. :) I'm actually a Ganondorf player, who picked up Falcon so I can attempt to handle Falco's a little better. Fox's too I guess. I like playing against Sheiks with my Ganon. >:-D

Good luck!

For edgeguarding, maybe Up-tilt or Bair
If they're far away, the U-air or knee will work. The dair insn't very good, it can be meteor cancelled very easily

Actually, I would suggest for edgeguarding, depends on your opponent.

If they are lazy at recovering (like, overB Marth's), time their recovery, go under them and double jump Uair. Make sure they are level/above you if you try it though.

If they recover low, try to time an edgehog so that when they UpB, your invincibility frames will prevent harm. Force them onto the stage so you can ledgehop knee them, and do it back and forth until they die somewhere :p.

Use Forward tilt to clip those OverB Foxes and Falcos, it's faster and easier to time than UpTilt.

If it's a slow but damaging upB (Samus), then you can try Uptilting from the stage.

Of course it can be difficult to edgeguard with Falcon, so don't get frustrated if you can't fully edgeguard your opponents. Just try to kill them afterwards.

I don't think C. Falcon does any better vs. Fox/Falco than Ganon.

C. Falcon does much better against fox/falco than ganondorf by a long shot... his combos work very well on them, he also moves around shl a lot better than ganon does for falcos. Either way its not a great matchup for C. falcon though I do see what your saying but if you want to pick up a character who does a little better against falcos and foxes you should probably go with .... falco or fox for one (naturally), marth, peach, maybe even jiggs. No one really has an advantage over the space animals but all those characters are capable of going even with them.

ANd to whoever said dair isn't good edgeguarding due to the fact it can be meteor cancelled, yes and no. Nipples and higher it's a 45 degree true spike, very very good. Below that it shoots downwards more and can be meteor cancelled but it still a great move to use versus characters with limited vertical recovery.

So, you think that trying to spike with the nipples is a good edgeguarding strategy? 0_o

Anyway, I think that dair is best used to pop people up in the air, then combo and finish with the knee

only marth is even w/the spacies. peach and jiggs are at a disadvantage against fox.

edit: if you want to see why ganon is as good as c.falcon against fox/falco, then watch the videos of bushman vs. rob$

But the pimpest edgeguard is walljump -> knee.
I've managed to pull it off a few times, and it looks so awesome every time
