Strategies for getting a Wii

I got it on launch day, and that was possible becasue I arrived at the store before 3:00am. It was a Target. So if you really want one, you can wait outside a store. But the only problem is you don't know which day. And stores tend to "not know" when you ask them when they get their shipments.

anyway, that's what my brother did. he got it at launch at Meijer. they let you sit inside with chairs and everything. 25 hours in line he waited.

but my idea, do you know anybody who works at a store who sells wii's? if so, talk to them, have them secretly put one aside for you. that's what a couple of my friends did, and it worked just fine.

also, check into a used one. see how bad condition it is. I found one kid at my gamestop 1 week after launch trading in his wii. it was crazy. he wasn't getting crap for it, and it was basically brand new.


anyway, just a couple ideas. good luck with getting one!

Use the internet. Most sites, like Amazon.com for example, give free shipping on big orders. The Wii costs $249.99 + tax (here it's 8%) $19.99 = $269. Whereas online, with the shipping waiver, you are looking at $249.99 + no gas costs + no ******* employees = Win.

I was just at Best Buy. They got a big shipment in today. Yours most likely has, too.

The thing is, there were only two left when I got there, and the checkout line was full of people with Wiis in their hands.

i bought three on launch day it wasn't it that hard to do. all we did was seperate to different stores. where i went you had to wait in line long enough to receive a ticket and then you were guaranteed one and didn't have to wait after that. all you had to do was return before a certain time and purchase it. one i kept, another i gave to my cousin in iraq he's a marine, and the last i sold to a friend, overpriced of course. after they were impossible to find

so i guess is either have your girlfriend just try to get one when there is a next shipment or if you know someone that works there ask them tell you the next shipment date.

I've gotten two without any problem at all. Granted, I did camp over-night for one, and picked up the other in a town with the majority of the population > 95 years old.

yea, they are conssitently sold out most places. What I did was, Best buy always gets them on Sunday's, and people would camp out before hand to get them. YOu can bother the best buy people or check the sunday ads which come on saturday (or around me at least) to see when they will get another shipment. I waited 3 hours, and bam, i have a wii!

Everyone I go to is sold out, I maybe just have wait till a Sunday or Monday and hopefully they can get them.

My Dilema is that she works a regular 9-5 type gig and I work part-time and go to school full time. So unless companies get shipments on a Sunday consistently, I'm pretty much screwed because she REALLY wants to buy it for me for Christmas (I'm very difficult to buy for).

Is there a way to buy one online without getting the bundle? If not I'm not sure whats gonna happen.

Does anyone know if Nintendo increased production for the holiday season?

Rawr, here in Mexico Wii's arent sold out at all, every time i pass by a video game store i see lots of Wii boxes in pyramids, maybe try to get the wii now and hide it till christmas?, unless they're really hard to get wherever you live. then i wouldnt know :s

Btw, i got mine like 3 days after launch, cause on day 1 and 2 they were sold out, so then i went to this Mexican-Wal-mart-like-store and they had tons XD so i got it right away. Yet i dont think it should be so hard to get one in 2 months in stores, idk, maybe other places just sell lots of Wii's :s

Normally on Tuesday is when stores get their game shipments in, installments vary from store to store. However if your town/city's main income store is a wal-mart check there or other store for that matter. Make friends with someone at a store so they can keep one in the back for you or at least call you when they get one in that's what most gamestops will do. Or just ask crimson king.

If you don't mind calling a lot of stores around you to see when they're getting their shipments in, I guess you can do that.

I just looked on eBay. Most Wiis (brand new) seem to be going for 280-350 dollars.

I did see one brand-new Wii that was going for $51 with less than a minute left in the auction. Someone got lucky?

Just something to remember, it's illegal to charge taxes on international or interstate trade. Amazon is in Washington state and the topic creator is in New Jersey. If they buy it online, there is no tax.

I camped out at bestbuy at the second major Wii release in stores. It was on December 6 or something like that. I've recently seen used Wiis at gamestop, and new ones at FYE. If you check everywhere, you're sure to find it eventually, just keep looking in unusal electronic stores.

Also, making your girlfriend buy you a Wii is the suckiest thing I've ever heard. Buy it yourself.
