Strange Up-b Mechanics

What happens with D3 on Brinstar also happens to other characters (or something else strange occurs with their up-b's).

For example, fox and falco will travel up, but face left or right if they up-b like D3 described in the allisbrawl post. Kirby does the same thing on Brinstar as he does in the above video. I've done this with every character on Brinstar and something strange happens with most up-b's, but I can't record video.

Do we know why this happens or how is can be made useful?

But could this type of glitch be used to a characters advantage. For instance. Toon link's up-b animation will stop moving up and he will start a grounded up-b. DDD will insta-land (if you will) and release his stars. Kirby will insta-blade. And other such surprises to take a foe off guard. I'm wondering if these glitches have any competitive value... Opinions?

Looks kinda like good spacing. Seen it done with Marth but a little different.

it´s a glitch, it´s mostly used by marth players because is a good way to punish edgehoggers and edgeguarders

You can do this on any moving/dynamic platform.
I seem to remember doing this with fox by hitting down and shield while moving upwards through the smashville platform.
