Stock or Time? Which is the standard competitive mode for tournaments?

Topic is the whole question. With Brawl I'm thinking of entering tournaments and such but I wanted to know which of these modes is considered the standard for most tournamets. Because personally I've always prefered stock matches since Smash64 (partially because kill-stealing isn't a game mechanic). But I wanted to know what I should practice more.

Unfortunately practicing stock will be tough without more friendcodes atm since the other people I play with are FAR worse than me so I don't get any good practice at that and I get real tired of online stock matches real fast.

Awsome, that suits me fine since that's how I prefer to play anyway. Now to find some good players to play online with in stock.

Just for kicks: so for Melee it was time matches?

No; Melee was usually 4 stocks with an 8 minute time limit. Most matches never got near the time limit, and only really extreme camping matches ended by time.
