Stalling Disagreement

So my friend is an idiot. He was playing Ice Climbers, while another friend of mine was playing Falco. Falco was winning. Ice Climbers go up on a platform, and start shooting icicles. So, Falco (since he was winning and didn't have to approach) simply stood there and used his reflector. The icicles simply went under the platform, not hitting ICs, but Falco was also left unharmed. ICs continued launching icicles and Falco continued reflecting. The timer wore down.

At the end of the match, Ice Climbers tried to convince us that it was the FALCO that was stalling. He said both ICs and Falco "contributed to the stalling", and that Falco could have stopped reflecting at any time, and that since he was winning, Falco was stalling, not Ice Climbers. However, the time is there so that the loser has to approach, and doesn't just stall icicles, etc.

I say that it would have been stupid for Falco to stop reflecting, since he was winning and he could just force the ICs to approach. There is nothing wrong with using your reflector in a match. What was the Falco supposed to do, stop reflecting and try to approach, and probably end up getting grabbed?

The IC player is stupid for sitting there and doing Icicles then. You're supposed to grab Falco, not lose to reflector. It's more akin to poor approaching or poor use of time, not strictly stalling.

I would of explained to him that if falco has lower% when the timer is up the IC player loses.

In the rain.
That's the point of the timer. To force the person who is losing to approach.
Without a timer, both the person who is winning and the person who is losing could simply choose to not approach. The winner doesn't approach cause he wants to maintain his lead, the loser figures if he doesn't approach then he can't lose, the match could literally last forever.

Your friend (the ICs player) is a silly billy.

Actually, the sun would eventually explode, ending the match prematurely.

lol the IC player is bad. you don't ever stall with ice blocks. you only pressure plankers, or use a deync ice block to attempt at approaching. ICs have a horrible approach, and even worse camping game. ICs are pretty bad except for their neutral game and their chaingrab.

Also boo to the falco player, reflector spam is boring. He should've powershielded the Ice blocks :p much cooler looking to get successful powershields over and over.

The losing player is always the one that is considered to be stalling if he or she chooses not to engage the enemy. Stalling is, for all necessary purposes, simply delaying the time a tournament can run with no intent to gain an advantage over opponent. The Ice climber player knew he was behind, and chose to do a tactic with no potential advantage whatsoever with the sole intent on prolonging the match.

The IC was stalling.

I don't think either of them are technically considered "stalling" in this instance. The IC player is just a ****ing moron for doing stupidly unsuccessful tactics the entire time the clock was running out. Falco timed him out like a boss, and the IC's just made it really freaking easy for him.

The only rules I can think of that technically apply to "stalling" are the Ledge Grab Limit, and the Infinite Dimensional Cape. Nobody broke either of these.

I must totally agree with those who have said the IC player was stalling. What was there to gain in stalling anyway? Although, the Falco player needed to take the last 30 seconds and punish the spammer really hard. That would have at least been exciting.

The match would still go on, the lack of players wouldn't change that.

Technically, you'd expect the Wii to stop functioning wayyyyy before the sun exploding. Like Billions of years before that.
