i love the idea. you could make a perfect training course w/out having to constantly switch levels. i think it would be the whole drag and drop platform idea or something like line rider.
unfortunately i don't think it will be in the final game.:(

you could imput pictures and paste it on the platforms.
great idea!

XD Erm... No. Trust me, people would make stages that are totally not what a 10 year-old should see. ><;

That said, it would be a great idea. Its being in all depends on whether they wanted it in a looong time ago. Though I think it probably won't be in, sadly enough. ;_;

Can you give me an example? Maybe a gliding or a walljumping character only level. Those maps would get bad ratings and be put at the last page whereas the maps worth playing are on the first page with 5 star ratings.

Only the materials already in the game should be used, no importing your own pictures :p
Really, I think the hardest thing to code a level editor would be the interface and the people at Nintendo are very skilled!

I posted this idea in another thread, but this seems to be the main one, so I'll repost my thoughts here. This is how I think a stage editor in Brawl could work:

Melee had certain Event Matches where the "stage" was actually a trophy that you fought on top of. You'd earn the trophy if you won, but you couldn't ever fight on that trophy "stage" outside of EM mode. It got me thinking: What if Brawl had a stage where you fought on top of a random trophy? And then I thought, What if you could create your own stage using trophies and other premade pieces?

The pieces could include

* Solid platforms
* Jump-through platforms
* Destructible solid platforms
* Destructible jump-through platforms
* Rotating platforms
* Moving platforms
* Ladders
* Slopes
* Walls
* Destructible walls

Placing and manipulating these pieces would be easy using the Wiimote.

In addition, you could use trophies as solid objects in your stage. The trophies could be enlarged or made smaller to suit your needs, whether you want them to be platforms, obstacles, or the entire stage itself.

The game could provide a number of generic 3-D backgrounds to choose from. You could decorate the backgrounds using your stickers and populate it with characters that appear in other backgrounds (i.e., AC and Pokemon characters).

Then you could add hazards. I imagine it would be too difficult to allow the user to really create their own hazards, but the dev team could offer a fair amount of different types that would be toggled on and off along with a frequency meter.

For instance, one hazard could be falling flower pots. The pots rain from the sky and if one breaks on your head you get the Lip's Stick flower debuff for a short time. You could toggle this on or off for your stage, and then a sliding gauge would determine how often the pots fall.

Hazards could also include enemies such as Melee's goombas and redead or any of the ones from the Subspace Emissary Adventure mode -- perhaps even bosses.

Finally, you could assign music to the stage using the same music interface revealed on the Dojo.

What do you guys think? To me this would be the ultimate feature!

Thanks for everyone's really good replies, I think I will send this topic to Nintendo :D
... anyone know how? :p
Grengarm those are great ideas, especially the use of customisation like stickers and trophys. Out of your music collection you could decide what music is to be played.

December 3rd, I'd be guessing beta stage even I doubt that so I think they would still be open to ideas.

Or maybe they could add in a game development mode where you can edit the engine and add your own unique stuff!!!

Seriously, a stage editor would result in either an extremely generic stage that offers little gratification in creating, or an extremely glitchy stage in which you might end up falling into a wall, and then teleporting to the top of the stage, afterwhich you fall back to the stage, only to discover that you're no longer able to stand on any of the platforms, and you just fall and die.

It'd be neat, but there would obviously be many trials to overcome. However, if the Brawl team can spend their time making a SUPER IN DETAIL single-player, super customizable Special Melee, new game pysics, stgae types, etc. why not a stage creator=??? That'd rock...if Halo 3 and Diddy Kong Racing DS can have one, why not Brawl=???

They are definetly NOT still in Beta now
LOL sorry I didn't mean to say beta :dizzy:
WiiWare sounds good, I didn't know about that!
I'm sure they want the game to be as good as it can be and despite the everlasting playability of multiplayer, a stage editor could only increase the popularity of online play.
