First I want to say thank you to everyone that attended! We had 105 people enter the tournament which is INCREDIBLE for an online event, and still managed to run in under 5 hours. You guys were all spectacular and made running the tournament amazing for me, so thank you all SO much!

Congratulations to the top three for doing so well! A LOT of R.O.B. in this tournament, next time someone has to beat the robots!

Remember every few months the top 16 will be allowed to enter special tournaments with EPIC prizes so be sure to play every Sunday! Also, this is a GREAT way to see how you improve. Every week when you go up just that much further it will be an excellent stepping stone in your run towards glory!

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY SMASH TWO​

Date: SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY March 29th

Time: 2pm CST | Mandatory check-in 1 hour before the event. Check-in takes place on the Challonge Bracket

Ruleset: SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY SMASH Rules!

Place: Our IRC Chat! You MUST be in the IRC chat to participate. Please make sure to make your IRC name match your Challonge name!

Bracket: The bracket will have Double Elimination Pools that will be seeded into a Final Double Elimination Bracket.

Grand Prize: A $10 e-shop card! I'm willing to grab this for international players as well in their country as well.

There will be a few changes for the next tournament I figured I should explain to everyone so they can understand my choices. I read over the responses to the survey for all that answered and want to talk about a few things mentioned there as well.

First: Pools will now be double elimination. This will keep the speed of pools up while removing some of the issues Round Robins present. I can go into details if anyone is interested in learning about brackets (remember this project is to help aspiring TOs). Also by poular request TWO people will move on from each pool! I made a fake bracket to show how this will work, check it out!

Second: The rules will stay at 2 stocks 6 minutes. Some people asked if I would change to 3 stock 8 minutes, but due to the fact that most majors and prominent locals are running a 2 stock format and I want this to help people prepare for live events I do not plan to change this.

Third: I'm also planning to keep the stagelist the same. While Skyloft and Wuhu Island are not as common in live events, they are still used quite often so I want people to have experience there in case they run into them.

Fourth: I fixed up the Omega rules as well, to clarify Final Destination has to be fought on for the first match. I also modified the Omega clause to help prevent folks from seeing someone ban Lylat, and going Lylat Omega. Both players must agree to the Omega chosen now, I'm hoping this will work, we'll just have to see!

Fifth: Customs will remain off. There are other online tournaments with customs if people are interested in entering them, but less these days without them so I want a place for those people to play too. Especially since most online play has customs off as well, this makes more sense to cater to the general audience entering. I also do not want a risk of people cheating with equipment (which has been done and not caught previously in other online events with customs on) ESPECIALLY with a prize.

I'd sure like to participate, and I signed up, but I have a question regarding the amount of people in the tournament. I just assume now that not every match will be streamed. How will we face our opponents and tell about winning/losing?

Yes, not every match would be streamed since it's simply too much to manage. You join the IRC chat that's liked in our very first post and a bit of the page to talk to your opponents, strike stages, and all of that. For the wins and losses you can report them directly on challonge!

Yes it's happening this Sunday, and you certainly can join!

The best way to learn everything on the event is to just scroll up a few posts and see all of the information I have there. It's got how to sign up and everything there! For how "it all goes down", the day of the tournament you join the IRC (just click the link shown above) and click a check in button that will show up an hour before the event starts on challonge, and you are basically good to go!
I'll be in the IRC several hours before the tournament starts to answer questions live too :)

You can watch some yes. More than likely we wont be streaming the pools this week just because it ends up going slow, but if you want to watch the op cut of players it should work perfectly for you!

I'm still trying to figure out what to do for Easter Sunday, I might run something on Saturday so people don't have to worry about the holiday, family obligations, and that sort of thing. It'll be kinda weird hosting a "SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY SMASH" though :p

Since I may be unable to attend a local Sm4sh and Melee tournament this weekend due to complications with transportation, this will be the next best thing for me. Hoping to attend these as often as possible. Excited for tomorrow!
