SSBB seems slower than SSBM...This could be good or bad. If it is anything like the original SSB, I think it would be awesome (if they gave Ness his awesome grab back too). I hear they are suppost to dumb it down. Thoughts?

You're right, it does seem slower, but im sure its for the better. I think i heard somewhere that they were going to tweek the speed down a bit and focus on the mid-air combat system. It seems faster than SSB and a bit slower than SSBM, so itll still be good either way.

Yeah a lot of the slow down is on the freeze frames. Depending on how they impliment things this could be good or bad. As in all fighting games, sysytems should be altered and tweaked for sequels. I don't like Soul Calibur 3, so I play Soul Calibur 2. I don't doubt that SC3 is a great game though.

Where do you get this idea that it is slower. All we've had is a couple of trailers and no actual real in gameplay footage (although it may well be). I suppose though that with these new super moves, play would have to be slower otherwise you couldn't pul some ofl them off.

Just watch the first (I think) trailer, see when Mario uses his Fsmash? Yeah...

I think the perfect hybrid of the two previous games would be amazing. I wish that the next game will get rid of all these horrible tiers, but I know that this will never happen. At least lower the gaps I guess.

Plus, please make Ness better...if he's even in the next one. I even heard that he wasn't even suppost to be in SSBM.

Sorry, I'm a huge fan of the original SSB and Ness from that game.

They could make it variable. One thing I would like to see is lots of suboptions. So in one mode you could set the speed going from 0.10 up to 5.00.

I think that would be interesting. You could say that they even dabbed into that kind of stuff in Melee.

trailers for this franchise have always been slower than the actual game, especially if you take into accout the advanced techs. more than likely it's the same speed, if slightly lower than Melee

Okay.

Well, any newbie to the forum worth their freakin' salt would know to use the search function for stuff like this. Sorry man, but a topic has been made for this already---several times.

And that comment about the horrible tiers? Well pal, you got 'em in every fighting game. So deal.

They say that the best way to enter a forum is to be as quiet and easy as possible... With other words, not make any threads and such 'cause you don't know if it's already been discussed.

Sadly, this topic has already been discussed so I think this thread will be locked soon.

Oh, and by the way, Brawl will not be slower than Melee. I bet it won't.

I would be really disappointed if the speed is dumbed down. Part of what Melee incredible was the insensity of the combat speed and the mayhem, particularly when you begin to handle the controls with finesse and tap into the nuance.

I definitely did notice that the gameplay seemed slower, but I'm hoping that they just slow it down for the trailers so you can see what's going on, see the new moves, the graphics, etc. I'll definitely be in for disappointment if it's slower.

I'm not really able to notice that much in the way of being slower, but if it is it could be just because they are still doing code optimization. Games typically have frame rate issues up until the last month or so. Especially if they use frame locking. Like it the frame rate drops below 20, it will automatically lock at 15. Usually rounded.

I think I read somewhere they they were planning on making the gameplay a little slower. But there's so many made-up Sakurai quotes out there that I dare not say anything for sure.

Slowing down the gameplay isn't a bad thing. Most people are failing to realize that this is an entirely new game and they aren't changing the pace of it just for the sake of making it different, but to better suit the gameplay of Brawl, which will be new and different from Melee.

not talking about the framerate , just the general speed of the game itself.

Yes I noticed that to. I think though it will be good. Even though I love speed and high tempo matces I'm sure they have a good reason for doing this.

I beleive he did say it. It was one of the thing on his blog or something. You can find it in SamuraiPanda's thread.

I think the gameplay should be tweeaked. Me and my friend were talking about Halo 3. I watched the beta video and noted it looked the same as Halo 2. There wasn't even much of a graphical upgrade. Halo 22 built greatly on it's predicessor. Adding more balance and the ability to use two guns added a lot to gameplay. But Halo 3 looks to be mpre of the same. I don't want Smash to endd up like that. I want it to feel new. A SSB/SSBM hybri would be great.

eh? what the what? gee.... i guess it seems slower because:
1. its just a trailer, more or less captured straight from the computer they developed it on, and since it mus thave been straight capture from said computer, it should be slow, considering that computers arent that fast compared to platforms.
2. still just a trailer, since it is still just a trailer, that means that this is most likely the beta version of the game, as in, not the final. and since its still not the final, it must have been slowed down to see things, such as graphical problems or whatever. sorta like how they made the beta versions and trailers for sonic the hedgehog 2006 slow. get what i'm saying?
3.also, it seems slow cause that's how they made the gameplay for the trailer, so that they can show it off in finer detail. gets?

also, last time i watched it, it didn't seem any slower than the current ssbm, your probably just seeing/thinking things.
