the game looks slightly slow to me and i;m really hoping that point when boswser gets hit by the firecracker is just slowed down for effect....maybe the item does it automatically... i do think the way gravity is acting on the characters however is very cool

my biggest qualm tho....is not even the speed cause honestly ....melee can be hella too fast for my brain....especially on 4 on 4 battles--when i first started playing i would often lose track of where i was and i;m sure many noobs feel that way---it was so overwhelmed that i played the game on slo mo to get used to it....but of course now my eyes are sharp and i keep up with the speed just fine---but to reach a wider audience the game probably should be slowed just a tad

but my biggest issue is the way some of the characters move....

very obvious in the last part of the 15 second trailer...giga bowser and link seem to not move fluidly...in fact i feel like most of the movements aren;t fluid for all the characters

they seem to be pausing for miliseconds...as if there arent; enough animations happening in the frames...

characters seem to jump from one position to the next within the move...

check link out...at the last part with link...he looks like he;s just going from one position to the next ---NOW I KNOW the move is supposed to looking lighting fast....but a similar effect is happening in many other character's moves

also when one characters hits another....it seems like there is a second of delay before a reaction happen...

i;ve noticed this since the first trailer and it;s been making me crazy

does anyone else know what i;m talking about?
There is too possibilities:

1. That is being done on purpose.

2. They are fixing that,

Well it doesn't seem much slower if at all to me. I think whats really happened is its become alot more focused on combat in the air. But certain things like th movements in LC seem to be there due to gravity effects. Its been said before but a possible reason for the slowdown at DP was because they were playing stamina and Fox had just killed Bowser.

How many people complaining about it's speed have actually compared it to the melee trailers?

Why don't you guys check it out for yourself? Youtube has old melee trailers as well as Brawl stuff, so it's really easy to find. Check em out and discuss as opposed to just going by what you remember :-P.

I have, and as I stated before, Brawl seems *faster* overall in the trailers by a slight margin. I proposed the idea that perhaps they just toned the speed of some of the characters but kept the general pace of the game intact. Fox doesn't seem nearly as fast this time around, but asside from him and the weird floatyness, movement speed and combat don't seem to be slurred any. Agree? Disagree? Wanna debate? Lets do it! But please, lets not just have people spamming that it is slow when we all know that it is in comparison to todays standard of tournament level competition.

To me, it does look a little bit faster, yet some say its slower. I guess its just a matter of perception. But, thats just my opinion...you know my opinion -- the one that doesn't count. lol
I think a lot of this confusion with some people saying it's faster and some saying it's slower is because they're thinking of two different aspects of the gameplay shown. While most of the most of the movement in the trailer looks as fast as melee, the hitlag after a character gets hit by a move seems a LOT longer in this trailer. Like when donkey kong gets hit with pikachu's final smash, he stays still for a looong time before he's sent flying. It's like N64 smash all over again :/.

The hit lag isn't that bad. And guys, looking at the fact that it isn't coming out until DECEMBER 3, 2007; about 4-5 months from now, they will probably be fixing these problems. My guess also, is that they have not made all the frames for the characters in the game yet, which is probably why you're seeing thos non-fluid motions.

And have most of you compared Melee and Brawl trailers, like Mookie suggested? If you study them carefully, you can see that BRAWL is FASTER, as small of a speed difference it may be, it IS FASTER!!! Remember how Melee was a heck of a lot different than SSB64? Well, it'll be like that same thing, except upgrading from Melee this time. We will get used to the differences, the speeds, the mechanics/engine, all the new things they have added to this game. I wish all of you would stop whining sometimes, and wait till there is actual PROOF of what your saying.

Agreeing with WhiteZero and MookieRah here.

If you look at early Melee trailers, they have the same retardedly long hitlag freeze frames, but that was taken out before release. They probably just use it to emphasize the attacks that they are using

Well, that explains the lag of Fox shooting the Cracker Launcher at Bowser. Well, we'll have to wait and see what happens when we get the game. SSBB looks great and I'm sure it'll play great as well.
