Wow, looks like a great idea to me. I've always thought that the only way a ssb64 ladder would work would be if their was one similar to gamebattles or w/e on a website.

Also the last couple times I've played It hasn't been laggy so I dunno what was wrong with my internet for a week. I shouldn't have dropped out of the tourney. :(

Wow that's interesting. Now I have a reason to visit the site of the game I hate the most.

I'll probably be bottom 5 of this ladder or something.

Guide to playing Super Smash Bros. Online! said:
Delay
Like Brawl online, SSB64 online suffers from input lag. It's nowhere near as bad as Brawl's gets though. Without manual delay controls, here's what input delay comes out to based on your connection type:

LAN: 3 frames
Excellent: 5 frames
Good: 8 frames
Average: 11 frames
Don't even bother playing with a lower setting than average.

The higher the delay the smoother it will run and the less likely it will desynch.
wat?

hopefully, they're matching over p2p so that doesn't matter.

Blame me for that, and I stand by my opinion that they are not ban-worthy stages. If you think they are that bad then counterpick there and demonstrate a broken tactic that warrants a ban. Record the match and open up discussion on it and we will see what happens.

Throws are very powerful in SSB64. And Mushroom Kingdom has no left/right edge. That means easy edgethrow gimp at low percents.

That one is pretty obvious.

You can just as easily gimp people on other stages as well, and any character (except maybe samus) can gimp well there, not just DK. It is not a broken tactic, especially when DK lacks a projectile and therefore can't camp the edges against a lot of characters.

If fox gets the lead in mushroom kingdom, he can just camp the far left edge and short hop double laser spam to force the opponent to attack him in a very bad position because you are forced to head towards the lasers since you can't really avoid them cuz of platform on the top. Fox and just keep spamming and if they are close enough and get stunned by the lasers, just grab and back throw and they are dead. They are probably other dumb tactics but this is what popped up in my mind.

Look, when Boom says Mush Kingdom has a problem, Mush Kingdom has a problem, cause he's Boom. :p

As easily gimp on other stages, no. Let's just say, throws are REAAAAAAAALY powerful in this game. Every character can gimp in the game, yeah. Every character can just as easily take advantage of the microgames in Wario Land Brawl to score powerups.

But then that'd be banning camping, which of course is stupid.

When you ban something, it has to be enforceable. Infinites can have a percentage point, certain techniques can't be used, etc. But Fox uses laser in the corner cannot be enforced well until you ban his lasers.

What is the definition of excessively stalling? It is a highly subjective phrase and difficult to enforce. A fox can short hop double laser anywhere for x amount of time, but is that stalling? The point of the matter is this tactic is highly broken in mushroom kingdom and nowhere else because it is a walk off stage and that solid top platform.

Advertising = close, etc. etc.

But yeah, it's great that we actually have a new ssb64 area to go to. Smashboards is getting out of control and it's pretty nice to actually gtfo of here XD

The ladder is now live! It works great too! There's really no excuse not to join this if you play SSB64 online already.

Apparently there's a bug where you have to first enter a Brawl friend code. So just put like all zeros or something. neal says he's working to remove this for the SSB64 ladder, as obviously it doesn't require a Brawl friend code.
