Ten years after the collapse of The Subspace Emissary a new world was born out of the Super Smash Brothers franchise. Popular places and kingdoms such as The Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule, Sector X, Zebes, and other notable planets and places have exploded due to a massive unknown blast from the aftermath of The Subspace Emissary's demise which created one gigantic alternate world only known as Li. Now characters from all walks of life are forced to live with one another on the same planet in order to survive and flourish on this distant and unknown territory of epic proportions. But there is one MAJOR problem that seems to fill this world with great distraught and everlasting loathing.....a disease only known as Starvia.
No character knew how the disease started to spread or even knew all the wonders of the planet Li that they inhabited, but the disease began spreading like wildfire and slowly characters from across the land started to lose their minds and emit the same familiar aura with a black eerie glow that the Subspace foes once possessed. The infected began to form groups and assemblies in attempt to escape Li and relocate the essence of the creator Tabuu that is said to still emanate from the point of explosion, which in turn, is believed to be located at the far western edge of the planet Li.
Once the infected can find that origin of essence, they had hopes to utilize it in destroying planet Li and those who oppose leaving such a world, and creating their own space of darkness and shadows to dwell and thrive in. To the brave souls that are still healthy and composed from the mighty blast that occurred, they slowly begin to understand exactly what's at stake. The healthy and courageous warriors of the Smash Brothers universe must band together in finding this point of extraction and destroying whatever essence of Tabuu is left to bring Planet Li back to a subtle peace.
Leaders in battle and warriors of our time Mario and Sonic both have very different views on what they should do to end this plague, and both heroes have been arguing about their decisions for months now. Mario wishes to recruit all the brothers and sisters of the smash universe to push towards the point of essence and battle their way to victory just like they did on Subspace, and upon beating this diseased darkness, he wishes to turn Li into a livable planet for all to enjoy. But Sonic has a completely different view. Sonic wishes to create a massive bomb to destroy the planet and create a fleet of ships for everyone so that they may find a different planet to live on once the essence/planet is destroyed.
There are flaws in both these plans, so neither take action. Without a majority vote Sonic and Mario are stuck wondering what to do, now it is up to the newcomers of Life Sphere and all the other brave souls willing to step up to the plate and stop this evil plague to choose who's side to take, be it Mario, be it Sonic, or be it their own method of saving or destroying Li. Only those with the ability and the voice to make change WILL. It's time for a stand. But could Tabuu still be alive? Does Master Hand and Crazy Hand still lurk to wreak havoc on the characters of our time? How much longer does the planet have before the infected overcome Life Sphere? Only the mysteries of life itself can solve those questions. LET'S BRAWL!
