Smash Ace
Arizona doesn't have enough smash, so I have decided that we need to try to change that, even with the upcoming brawl release, I don't think melee should die out like this.
SO! I introduce to you!
South Paw's Weeklies!
Sunday's starting at 2pm!
We're starting at 2 means we're starting at 2, unlike most smash events. Do not be late, kthx
If you want to get here earlier to play, thats fine, just let me know so I can have my place cleaned up a bit by then
Address: 1145 East Mountain View Road. Apt. 133
Phoenix, AZ 85020
602.283.4989
$5/Player $10/Player if OOT'ers agree
1v1
Best of 3, finals (winners, losers, and championship) best of 5
Double Elim.
Stages on random select:
Final Destination
Dreamland 64
Battlefield
Fountain of Dreams
Yoshi's Story
Pokemon Stadium
Stages for counterpick:
Mute City
Rainbow Cruise
Corneria
Prize Layout: Number of entrants and payout in order of placement (top two get prizes unless there are 8 or more, then 3rd will start, etc.)
2 - $10
3 - $10, $5
4 - $15, $5
5 - $15, $10
6 - $20, $10
7 - $20, $15
8 - $20, $15, $5
9 - $25, $15, $5
10 - $25, $15, $10
11 - $25, $20, $10
12 - $30, $20, $10
Advanced Slob Picks:Anyone that has been to a tournament knows what this is. Basically, loser of previous match chooses stage, winner chooses character, then loser picks character, in that order. First match is random
Taj's Better Rule: A stage may only be picked twice in a set if selected by the player that lost on it, otherwise, it is banned after it is played
Knockouts: Each player may knock out any one stage from the set
Wobbling is allowed, deal with it
Most standard MLG rules apply. These rules may change, but it will be unlikely that anything other than the stages will.
Each set is considered a new set, no continuation silliness.
I'm NOT trying to compete with STB and their weeklies (ive been to plenty of theirs myself). I'm simply offering an actual tournament instead of a fest, and since I'm having it a day later, I'm hoping that people will take advantage of both... go to a fest saturday, tourney sunday.
Also, I'm considering reducing the entry fee for those who bring setups or equipment (Chairs, Tables, Surge Protectors, etc.) Reducing by $5 most likely ($0 for normal tourney, $5 with OOT'ers)
Arizona... Discuss!
