I love this idea, but it can't be a stationary stage, that's not Sonic enough. One of the biggest logistical issues seems to be how to work in the loops though, Smash characters just don't work that way. If someone can figure out how to make loops work, I have some kudos for them.

I think they should have it similar to the Ice Climber's level in Melee, only scrolling to one side (of course hazards along the way, maby even Eggman and the last part!). Once you get to the end you can hit the little sign with all the characters currently playing the maps face on it, and whoever's face shows up dies or heals or something, maby instant Final Smash?

Or does that sound too much like a Sonic SE?

They could have a loop with a spring at the end, so if you hit the spring it automatically sends you flying around the loop. That's pretty much the only way I see it working.

I Personally Think

I Think City Escape should be Sonic's level, being his first level ever to be on a nintendo system. Doesn't that make sense?

How about a simple long platform with to stationary floating platforms on the sides, ala the boss area in Green Hill. For nostalgia's sake, have Eggman come in with the wrecking ball every so often as a hazard.

That would be pretty uniques. But I think it should be a level like Ice Climbers but side ways. But also like mute city. Like you fight. The run the stop and fight again. And the eggman Idea is a good one for a hazard.

I kinda like this version I made better. I'd imagine robots and Robotnik as hazards and it would be a moving stage like Isle Delfino

I threw mario in for size comparison.

EDIT: Um never mind the one posted at the end of the first page is way better.

Ladies, gentlemen. There is only one stage from Sonic we need. It is Green Hill Zone. And it is a simple stage with a predictable hazard.

And it is already in Sonic the Hedgehog 1.

Make the visible ground into a free-standing island, Robotnik(adjusted to be slightly smaller as to allow more room to fight) slowly moves back and forth, the ball knocking players around a bit. And we have perfection.

Let's think outside the box here. Green Hill Zone is the first level ever in a sonic game and would be a great choice for Sonic's level. But, if we want to get away from the nonsense stages like warioware and picto-chat I would suggest a darker stage for sonic. Something like the Arc spacestation from adventur 2 battle crashing to the earth. It could even transform into the giant monster and meteors could be hazards. It could also fire a loarg laser, kinda like the great fox from melee. This is just my suggestion, don't kill me!!

I always figured that, whatever stage it would be, a Sonic stage would have one of those loop things and characters would be able to run on it. And springs like his up+B o:
