I can't believe Sega, my favorite developer, would spit in the face of another developer by taking one of the most dramatic scenes in gaming, and put it in a one of Sega's biggest disgraces! And, do you wanna know what the worst part is? ELISE LOOKS LIKE SHE SHOULD BE FROM FINAL FANTASY!!!!

Well, I guess if you're going to rip someone off, arguably the most popular and influential RPG of all time is a good place to start.

I watched enough of the videos to get the general gist of what was going on.

First off, as a writer-in-training, I know that just about every idea out there has been used once. Sega was going for a cool death scene, and FF7 had a cool death scene like it. There's bound to be coincidences everywhere.

It's okay to borrow one little thing from another game, in my opinion; however, if Sonic Next ends up exactly like a bunch of super popular video games...

The Sonic Team's writers need to think of something new, and hopefully original.

Okay, the death scenes are really nothing alike, aside from having an important character die, and another character being sad.

First of all, the setting. The scene from sonic takes place in a field, enclosed by mountains or hills of some sort. the scene from final fantasy 7 takes place inside of a city, with a river flowing.

second, the entries of the characters, and the reactions of the witnesses. As the scene from sonic opens, Sonic and the girl are entering the scene. Sonic falls face down to the ground, the girl too shocked to realize what just happened. She then runs up to sonic, trying to wake him, and, unable to get a reaction, turns him over, then the reality sinks in, causing her to emit a blood-curdling scream. Cloud enters from outside of Aeris' location. Aeris is already there. And Cloud has to jump to get to her. then Sphiroth attempts to make Cloud kill Aeris. This is probably the main difference. Then sephiroth kills her. When sephiroth releases Aeris, Cloud automatically knows that she is dead. He catches her as she falls, tears streaming (more than likely) and then Sephiroth tries to corrupt him further.

Third, the entry, methods and motives of the antagonist. Sephiroth, sword drawn, aimed to strike, swoops down on a praying aeris after failing to force cloud to kill her. Her power transfers to the planet leading to increase the amount of power he will gain after damaging the planet. Mephiles drops a purple orb, attempting to distract the protagonists, and does so well. he then comes out of the ground, fires a beam at sonic, from afar, and thereby killing him. The spirit of iblis leaves sonic, allowing him to take that power directly.

fourth, you're just being nitpicky. There are hundreds of death scenes out there and all of them are similar in some way. They are also all different in some way
