I saw this on another forum, and figured I'd give it a go here. What about each generation did you love, and what just grinded your beans?
Gen I
Liked: The start of a great games series, fun, simple, replayable, MissingNo. lol These games were great, and all around fun. I still bust out blue or yellow every now and then.
Disliked: Not much to do after catching Mewtwo... :/
Gen II
Liked: Pretty much everything. 2 regions, continuing story, TONS of new features, Full color, awesome music, and I always thought Johto was the coolest region. Loved the pokemon, my favorite gen as of yet.
Disliked: My only critique is that the Elite 4 seemed somewhat simple. Also, to me, Time Travel seemed a little Farfetched... heh heh... farfetched...
Gen III
Liked: With the other generations, I could go on and on, picking things out of the blue... But seriosuly... I can only think of eight things TOTAL I liked about the entire 3rd generation, 3 of which aren't even related to RSE. 1) I thought it was cool to have your dad as a gym leader 2) I loved dive. The seafloor was like another world. I wish it had been expanded, and carried over to DPP. 3) Secret bases 4) Seviper/Zangoose and their rivalry 5) Pokemon forms introduced (Castform) 6) The Pokemon Colosseum games... because they provided something RSE lacked... decent Pokemon. ;/ 7) FR/LG... I liked the Sevii Islands. 8) Pokemon Box made trading efficiant and quick. The rest of this generation... yeah, not so much.
Disliked: Yeah... I pretty much like to pretend Hoenn never happened. It always frustrated me because it seemed so detached from the rest of the series, offered subpar pokemon, and the graphics and music were terrible. The villians were just... weird and pointless. "Lets drown everyone! No, let's fry everyone! Yay, what we're doing is a good thing!" Apparently, Hoenn unlike Johto and Kanto, always faces the sun and has no night cycle. :/ I didn't like the contests, and the Battle Frontier was far too time consuming and difficult given that you only got a berry for collecting all the symbols. ;/ And Feebas needs to just go away. >=/ What ticked me off the most was that they only had 202 pokemon, 135 of which were their own. What happened to the rest? WHO KNOWS??? At least Emerald fixed the Pokedex, but the others still couldn't be caught in the game. URRGH! Worst. Region. Ever.
Gen IV:
Liked: DPP tried to fix what RSE ruined. Day and night return, many more Pokemon available, 3-d (zomg!), decent storyline, contests are better. Also, LOVED the underground.
Disliked: *sigh* Still has that detached feeling. Many new Pokemon were unneccesary... I know many people online, myself included, still wonder why Chingling exists... -_- I personally never understood Tangrowth... it's a bigger Tangela. Many newer evolutions and babies were unneeded. I only own Pearl, so I never got to play the new battle frontier, but I was disappointed to hear, as I'm sure many Platnium players were, that the EXACT SAME battle frontier will be in HGSS... how can two identical ones exist? That seems very uninspired. But, I guess we'll see.
So yeah... that pretty much sums it up... thoughts?
