Link to original post: I am in love (not the usual love mind you)

I admire Han Solo's mind set/stereo type/what have you.
IDK why but I adore the idea of Han solo, what the cow boy stood for, the 50's bikers, Indiana Jones, Wolverine and any other kind of freelance type person/persons.

They all have one thing in common and that is they know what they want, they know how to do it, they are all stylish and they all have the guts, brawn and know how to accomplish what they want. They are also very free.

IDK, I just find that character to be the most interesting type of character out there. Han Solo is probably the reason why I love pistols more than rifle's and the bikers are probably why I love bikes.
They're both just so, awesome.
I plan on getting a colt peace maker or a desert eagle in the next few years and I am going to but a leather jacket this year.
Right now the weapon that I like is something like a switch blade. Basically it is a normal knife with a thumb stub on it. I have practiced and trained and now I have a draw, opening and tactical positioning of my knife speed that is about 3 seconds. (If you want me to prove it I will make a video.)
However, I am very safe with it. Most of my friends know I carry it even to church, yet they rarely see me use it. I have never fought with it, I just use it as a tool.
Although there have been some jokes made about it. We will sometimes go to sub way and say I'm buying. What they are referring to is that I should hold them up so we get free sandwiches. -_-

IDK, anyone else in love with this type of people or am I the only one fascinated by these people?

I think alot of people are/were in love with Han Solo. Back off, he's mine  Lol

All three of those characters are cool, so its perfectly natural and even expected to be a fan of them (although its kind of died down over the years). They're kind of like the non-joke Chuck Norris'. As for the knife, I think you're just overwhelmed by their epicness at the moment. Just don't go stabbing someones neck accidently when you get surprised ._.

I'd like to see a video of that quickdraw though.

By "in love," you mean admire... right?

Also, I know absolutely nothing about knives and drawing them... but 3 seconds sounds really, really slow. Like... isn't it just... take it out of your pocket, open it... done? In my mind that takes less than a second. Again, I know nothing about it, so I can be completely wrong.

Yeah I should probably edit that before someone thinks I'm gay.....

yes

IMO, that is pretty fast.
The only way you can beat it is to have a spring assist.

I was joking, lmao. You actually changed the title? You shouldn't be that worried about it, everyone knows what you meant.

Anyway, pretty good. I think your start up is the weak point in it, considering you could be dead in the time it took you to finally get it out of your pocket if it was a real quick-draw match, but I guess that has alot to do with the lack of a spring assist. I don't know too much about it either, anyway.

Props for teaching yourself. How long did it take you to learn it like that?

-_-

The only thing that a spring assist does it open it up really fast. I can just about match it in speed.
The real problem is getting it from my pocket and into my hand properly so I can open it.
(The reason why I don't like spring assists is because they have this problem of springing open at the wrong time....)

Well, when I was younger I would mess around and try to open it quickly.
I thought it was cool and I just done that a lot. I think it took me about 3 months to master a really quick opening though.
The twisting part also took me about 3 months to get it down because I use the energy of moving my arm to turn it and not my fingers. The problem was it would go flying out of my hand point first........
So I had to learn finger placement and stuff. That took a little while to learn.

However, the hardest part is the initial draw. It is annoying because your hand has to go on a specific part of the handle so that I don't cut myself when I open it. My thumb also has to go close to the thumb stub.

I eventually want to learn a single rotation throw out of that twist. After a single rotation a knife like that is crap because it's trajectory is RNDM.
But that still gives me about 8 feet of lee way or so.

Sheiks DACUS < knife quick draw
There is the difficulty.

ps My gun drawing skills SUCK!
I seriously almost shot myself in the balls.
I know a marine who served for 20 years or so and my father was a marine.
So I got to go to an exhibition shoot. Now I'm actually a pretty good shot with a rifle. My record is cutting the deck at 30' fourth shot hit with a 22 Remington Viper.

Anyways, I got cocky and tried to do a quick draw shot from the hip with my fathers Ruger.
Well, when I pulled it out the barrel caught, twisted in and I almost blew my testicle's out. -_- Luckily I paused after I felt the twist. Good thing too.

They weren't all that uncommon a few years ago. You'd be surprised by how helpful even a small Swiss Army knife can be in daily life.
Exactly.

I once had a guy get mad at me for carrying it because he saw me open my pop with it (I hate using my nails for it). So he asked me how many times I use it a week. You wouldn't believe how often I use it. Since I'm bored I will post what I have used it for this past week.

To scratch off lotto card stuff for a wal-mart card.
To cut paper. I was an hour early for class so no one was there.. stupid teach delayed it and I missed the previous day. *sigh* (I made a paper boomerang BTW.. oh and I had no scissors.)
To cut a thread on my chirt.
To open a can of pop.
To widdle a stick some.
To open a pack of bb's. (Bought with the wal-mart card.)
To get rid of an annoying hang nail.
To cut my finger nails. (Nail trimming week.)

And that is about it for this past week.
It becomes very useful when I go to the forest.

I hate it when people put down weapons. -_- It feels like a personal insult.
No offense to anyone though.

My father has told me that people would go to high school with shot gun holders in the back of their trucks back in the early 80's. They done that so they wouldn't have to go back home to get them so they could spend more time in the woods hunting.

"Enough already?"

I said one ****ing thing, calm down and stop singling me out for stupid ****. It's obnoxious.
No, you shut up.

It's you being obnoxious, crying because I called you out for silly behaviour. You know I don't let stuff like that slide here.

God you're impossible sometimes, seriously.

Don't let what slide? Don't know which rule I broke, so I dunno what you're really going to do about me "crying" about you calling me out.

Look, if you don't like me, block me. Fine by me. I would've already done so, but unfortunately you being a mod and all, I don't have that luxury.

It's called spam.

Off topic posting which could potentially derail the thread. Silly lolposting really doesn't do the blog any favours. I usually don't ignore people because I need to see the posts I'm moderating.

You should stop posting your issues in this thread. You have my AIM, as well as my PM inbox and VM wall. You even have Forum Support. Now just take it out of this thread.

I just started carrying around a pocket knife. I haven't had to use it though. But there have been plenty of times when I've needed one and didn't have one so...I finally bought one.

Oh really, what did you get?
My first one was a Case. Case is an awesome knife company. So is traditional Barlows and Bucks.
The one that I carry is a Schrade though.
My father carries a Laguiole which is a hand made French knife. He also has a Japanese knife that he picked up while he was stationed in Japan.
