I was perusing the Wiki out of boredom, and noticed that this little detail was absent, so I assume it's not common knowledge. My apologies if it already is.

When Captain Falcon uses the Home-run Bat (or any other battering item), if you just lightly tap the A button and let it go during his smash attack he won't use the second hit. I've used this Ganondorf-esque stab some in the Home-run Contest to rack damage, but it obviously does nothing in competitive play.
