you up+b so you do not get caught in it ^_^ the whole point is not to take damage . I mean tornado has to be one of the most predictable moves MK has.

But if you do get caught whistle is an awesome idea. All tho a good mk will be able to jab or tilt befor you can get a move off after tornado ends im sure.

Maybe, I wouldn't assume that though. It's possible nair could come out faster than the mk can send out a move after the end of the tornado lag. And regardless, it's still another option we'd have in the matchup when caught in the tornado. Also, tethering the tornado is not viable, and can oftentimes lead us to getting hit by it.

**** guys this is just another option if you've gotten caught and you were unable to either shield it or jump above and nair it or whatever you like to do lol

It's kinda a last resort type thing, might as well try to time a whistle (don't spam it otherwise you'll probably end up buffering another whistle) and punish. I was playing my friend the other day and he caught me in a tornado, I whistled the last hit and Usmashed for a KO, there was nothing he could do. Just another option kids

I dont often get the chance to play any MK's so i wouldent know myself. But from vids ive seen tether pros tornado almost everytime. assuming you get the timing and spacing down it seems like the best option. It also looks very situational on the other hand. Ill have to ask my friend to play mk tonight so i can try some stuff out for myself. :D:D:D

When you play mks, or at least show you know what you're talking about w/ olimar, comeback ;)
kthnx

in other news, mks nado has 29 frames of guaranteed cool down (and sometimes more). Landing lag adjusts to this. If you're in free fall for 10 frames, and then you land, you have 19 frames of land lag.
We have PLENTY of time to do something if we whistle the last hit, lol.

Be nice, Fino.

I'm sorry if it seemed like I was being harsh with my posts >.>
People just have a habit of putting down new techniques/options by comparing them to other options, whether they be more or less convenient or have a better or worse reward.

I'm not sure I'm following what you're saying fino

Once the tornado ends, MK either enters a freefall (high tornado), has landing lag (grounded tornado) or a lagless landing (mid-ranged tornado).

Not sure where this 29 frame stuff comes into play. I just eyeball it.

Metaknight frame data thread. tornado has 29 frames of cool down no matter what
The cooldown can be during free fall, or it can be when he lands.

If he's in free fall for 5 frames, his landing lag is 24 frames
If he's in free fall for 27 frames, his landing lag is 2 frames
If he's in free fall for 13 frames, his landing lag is 16 frames
You get what I'm saying? The frames of free fall and landing lag always add up to 29 frames.

The only exception to this is if he is in free fall for more than 29 frames, then there is a "botched landing" animation.

Not saying ive never played an MK. i go to tournys every month and there is always mks to play. im just saying im not a master of the match up. did some oli vs mk friendlies the other day and tether never failed to stop nado. When i did get caught up in it whistle was a nifty trick. i prefer to avoid it all together if i can and punish. tether if i cant avoid it, and now that ive learned it whistle if i do get caught.

I didn't know that about tornado. That's interesting. Still too short <_<

I almost never ever whistled. It's kinda neat if you think about what could happen with this. Like, if MK decides to cut the tornado short a bit to screw your timing, and then you're just whistling like an idiot in the air getting ***** by dsmash/shuttle loop depending on height. fun.
