Another thing I was trying out is dsmashing someone, and they usually DI too far away to thunder in time, but with the quick attack thingy you can just run -> QA -> thunder. ^_^
Would you mind explaning that a bit more please? Thanks!
Anyways festizzio, this was an absolutely brilliant discovery. It might be too soon to say, but this could potentially be the solution to Pikachu's range problems.
Ok, so the first (and probably most obvious) application is that this heavily reduces the lag of pikachu's QA.
I was practicing this quick attack float for about three hours today in training mode. As has been a complaint with persons lately, Pit's range and distance attacks give Pikachu a big problem. I havent tried it out against a human opponent yet, but using either QA dair or QA jump nair/backair/upair/fair does an incredibly speedy attack, perfect for that Pit that spams arrows or that marth that uses his range to prevent your approach. The amazing part is right afterwards your set up to land another attack almost immediately.
On top of that, the amount of varied approaches you can make prevents them from predicting where to attack you. You can hit them from the front with a single diagnol QA, you can hit them from the top with a left/right and down QA. Or you can come at them from behind with the same idea. But that's not the end either. You can also run through them with the QA so they're stunned for a bit (also neutralizing whatever attack they might have had ready), and still attack them with dair or jump and an aerial, although the timing is a bit more difficult.
Here's just one of the many many combos I was trying out that I liked. I QA right/left, then down into them, use the jump-cancel thing to do a uair on my way up, and then do a nair on my way down. Keep in mind this is on a computer in training mode, so DIing and many other factors can come into play, but I really hope to see this help out pikachu.
Another application is recovering onto the stage. This might seem obvious, but if you are on the edge on a flat stage, hop of the ledge, jump just high enough to be barely above the edge of the stage, then QA left/right, then diagnolly into the stage, and finally jump-cancel. On final destination, including the momentum of the jump it takes you almost entirely across the stage, nowhere near where an opponent is capable or reaching (aside from projectiles), and even if they could, the lag is cut down drastically and you able to do an aerial from that point.
Another application. You can quickattack while standing on the ground. Do a QA left/right, then diagnol dair or diagnol jump aerial. If you time it right it happens incredibly quick and from a far distance. You can also essentially do this standing still, but just QAing into the ground. Or from a shorter distance by QAing left/right and then QAing into the ground.
