Some Marth vs Samus advice ~

I was wondering if some of you Marth experts could help me out with my game vs Samus. I find that I have trouble with Samus more so than the other characters. Usually the problems I face are that I am unable to combo her at all, as she simply DI's out of the way with anything I attempt, even at 0%. If I were facing a Link in comparison, I could deal with the projectiles effectively and once the distance was closed, begin to combo easily; this doesn't seem to work with her. And if I try to get her aerial or rack up the damage to get her airborne, she crouch cancels anything I throw at her and hits me with a DSmash, FSmash or Dtilt. I try to throw her to avoid being CC'd, but I can't follow it up with anything since she just floats about her business. Obviously baiting Samus is not a good idea, as she will just spam projectiles.

Anyway, those are the key problems I face. The CC and floaty DI, but any other advice I can get would be fantastic. Thanks.

Is it possible for you to provide a video? Otherwise your reply will be mainly speculation and generic answers. A quick rundown though, to limit Samus's CC game SHFFL some Dairs into her.

I can't provide any videos. I'm not the best player there is, neither is my friend who mains Samus. I also haven't played Melee in months, so my techs are all off. But this is a past problem I had, and playing last night for the first time, I was reminded again of that. We were both off our game, but it was still quite obvious. I usually win, as out of the two of us, I find I'm the better player consistently. But when I play him I play rather sloppy when he's using Samus, and I'm not fond of sloppy.

For samus fights you have to have good spacing and the really only 2 ways to kill samus is to

1. Tipper

2. Ken combo or a spike.

Anything else would get her to a very high percentage . And plus she is very good defensively, so not good.

You don't necessarily have to combo Samus, just keep her in the air above you where her options are limited. She's floaty and doesn't have a strong dair, so you should be able to rack up quite a bit of damage on her.

Also instead of grabbing, you could run in with a few dash canceled dtilts and then hit her with an fsmash when she's far enough away.

I don't really see why you have so much trouble with her projectiles... they come out slowly and can be parried rather easily. If you can get her off the stage, you can run out and intercept with fairs, just to add damage and make her life harder.

Elvenarrow, you're are a noob, you haven't played competitively at all, I can tell this by one statement you made.

"I don't really see why you have so much trouble with her projectiles... they come out slowly and can be parried rather easily"

That is utterly wrong if you've ever faced a samus worth a ****.

I suppose the topic creator isn't at a high enough level for it to matter but jesus, you can't be more wrong.

I'm fairly good Smasher, I'm just not PC Chris or M2K.

"I don't really see why you have so much trouble with her projectiles... they come out slowly and can be parried rather easily"

How slow the projectiles come towards you is not the problem at hand. If they come consistantly and repeatedly, eventually they wear you down unless you close the distance. I did not state my problem was the projectiles, but rather that I can't bait Samus because of them. I was merely stating the obvious., but they were not my issue.

@others: Thanks for the input.

You can jab away the missiles and it takes a while for them to get shot. They really only matter on the approach, so I'm not sure what the big deal is.

spaced fairs, dash dance (if you can get your movement close to m2k's then you've mastered dash dancing correctly), grabs, and play gay (mostly defensive pressure) near the edge
