Just realised I'm going into my first Halloween period with you guys. Time flies.

My one year of being here ain't far away.

Not really a fan of the holiday since I hate the fireworks and found it off-putting as a kid while eating. Kids around my neighbourhood been firing off fireworks and snaps the past week or so at least. And combined with street that has a lot of dogs it ain't helpful.

Website has felt quiet as well this week. Hopefully buzz will pick up again whenever the new fighter is out.......whenever that is.

It's unfortunate, but yeah, things tend to get quiet around here when we're in a Smash news lull.

It'll pick back up for a week or so once CP7 launches, but like always, it'll calm back down. This site tends to really only get super busy during a pre-release period. DLC keeps talks going, but never to the extent prerelease does.

So who here has watched Disney's Tarzan?

Because that's what I'm watching tomorrow. I've lately been in the mood to watching some Disney classics and figured I'd start with this one. Very overlooked movie, even after 20 years the animation still holds up.

Following that, next in line will be a toss-up between Lion King and Hunchback. That will be determined through a coin toss.

Think of it this way: the more you study and work early in the week, the less work you'll have to do later. If you binge-work on work early in the week, you'll have a more restful weekend because there will be far less to do.

The 3-2-1 rule.

Learning to do things the moment it comes to you

If you think of something you need to do (assuming it is actually possible to do in that moment) count in your head 3...2...1 then just do it. Without giving yourself the opportunity to talk yourself out of it or get distracted by some other temptation. "Gotta take the garboge out. 3...2...1" take out the garbage "Gotta do my homework 3...2...1 start working on homework
Learn to recognize your inner voice that tells you "maybe later." That is your brain's natural urge to resist doing the uncomfortable tasks, regardless how important they may be. This rule will help to alleviate your procrastination by giving yourself that quick psyche up, then jump into taking action.

The 1-Minute Rule

Learning to actually get started on a task

This would apply better to things that don't have a tight deadline, and would need to be done over time in the long term, but give yourself the means to do something for 1-minute. Just 1 minute. Everyday. Want to draw, grab a pencil and draw for 1 minute. Want to read, grab a book and read for 1 minute. You're both convincing your brain to do productive tasks while also reliving yourself of the stress by telling yourself "Oh I gotta do this thing it's gonna take forever, I don't think I'll even finish it or whatever" But instead you're telling yourself "I'll do it for 1 minute! Maybe a bit longer but just 1 minute. Then I'll do it again tomorrow for 1 minute." Getting started on something is usually harder to do than actually doing the thing to begin with but once we occupy ourselves with doing something it is harder to sway ourselves away from doing something else. 1 minute can turn into an hour a lot easier than you may think, especially if you've been consistent following this rule.

Remember several nights ago when I mentioned how awful I am at Overwatch? I just did something that put the stuck RIP tire in Numbani to shame. We were playing on King's Row, and I was playing as Reinhardt on the attacking team, and the defending team had D.VA, and when the D.VA player launched their self destructing mech, I had my Reinhardt charge to tackle and try to get it away from my teammates, and instead, it wiped all of us out. Given how bad I am at the game, I knew this was going to happen eventually, but it sure as hell doesn't make me any less p'd off at myself. I mean, I thought I was doing the right thing in the game, and it ended up costing us the match. I'm still pretty steamed right now.
