I still want to know how Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy stuff is going to be handled in Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated.

Yes, their voice actors are gone but taking them out of the game isn't an option.

I’m assuming they’re just gonna use archive clips from the original.
Even if they don't, the original game didn't cast Ernest Borgnine as Mermaid Man anyway. Guy was too expensive of a Hollywood actor for the development team to pay. Same thing happened with Clancy Brown.

Tim Conway being gone would necessitate the recasting of Barnacle Boy if they didn't use archive clips, but I think Wade's right, here. They'll probably just reuse the original audio for the remake, maybe enhance it slightly. I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Also while on the subject, is it bad that if somehow I managed to convince Nintendo to make my Paper Mario game a reality, that I’d also potentially want to see full voice acting? (Well aside from :ultmario: himself) and I even thought of a few potential voices for the characters I created?

Maybe

They did get Tim Conway for Barnacle Boy but not Ernest Borgnine for Mermaid Man in the original BFBB. IIRC, the Mermaid Man replacement was not that good.

I ask because the Mermalair level hasn't appeared in any of the Rehydrated trailers yet.

Is there word that Clancy Brown will be voicing Krabs in the game? I’m assuming he will be since he’s been more accessible to get for the Spongebob games after.

Really?

Is it back to the original gameplay at chance? What's the story also?

Not that I'm aware of.

According to TV Tropes, the guy who voiced Mermaid Man in the game did Mr. Krabs' voice as well, so they could easily just reuse that archive audio as well unless they really want to go all out and do Krabs' justice this time around. I'm rooting for that outcome, myself. :p

I mean, I don't think it's going, but it better stay.

The newest generation of gamers needs to know the nightmare that was the rolling ball room.

Yes, it is back to the classic formula with some QoL choices in mind. Lemme get some of my recap post in mind.
-The story revolves around a young Shaman with great magic power manifesting through art with the help of her sentient sketchbook and pencil Scribble and Sketch and what could be considered a “DM complex”. With her believing that creating obstacles and challenges for Mario to overcome would be the best way to help him and joining up with Bowser to create said obstacles, the two see their user becoming obsessed and making dangerous creations and decide to seek out Mario to try and stop her. An attempt to reclaim the drawing tools causes most of Scribble’s pages to get torn out and scattered, so the two decide to flee with Mario and Peach in separate locations. It’s up to Mario and Peach to travel the world to reunite and reclaim Scribble’s pages.

-This game will have two halves, one half will be Mario’s side and the other will be Peach’s. Both will have their own chapters, battles, partners, etc., They’d only have 4 partners each but they’d have more abilities and attacks as well as characterization and story presence.

-The classic badges would be back and function like the first two games but there are stickers that can be found stuck to objects in places and need to be peeled off that would add different effects to badges if applicable. The characters would have placed in their dedicated pages in the sketchbook for badges and even the partners would have their own badges.

There’s a lot more to this as well.

aight, gonna draw a name or two for the Smashboards AMA's in a little bit

if you wanna partake, lemme know and I'll add you to the current list of future AMA subjects

reminder that even if you already had an ama, you can go again!

Now I'm debating whether or not to revert this back to a once a week schedule. I'd rather not blaze through these so quickly, idk, what do y'all think? I'd love some feedback on the matter so I can plan accordingly

Anyways, I'll give y'all about an hour or so to respond before I start drawing
Y’all still doing AMAs? I haven’t seen them since like half a year ago.

Put me on the list btw.

Bored thought I'd share some killer creature flick ideas.

Stoa movie: Believing that Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World was based on fact rather then fiction being inspired by the 1912 account of the creature. An guy and his friends (Thinking he's delusional) travels to South America where it all took place to prove his theory is right and that and that non-avian dinosaurs are still alive. Soon enough they find themselves at the mercy of the very same creature they seek to find.

Dragon movie: Archaeologists in Ohio obsessed with indigenous people culture finds out about an uncharted cave system said to claim an treasure trove pre-Paleo-Indian artifacts and cave paintings. Going there in hopes of showing the world this evidence there's more then they bargain for when find themselves at the mercy of 25-30 foot long wingless reptiles (Drakes) thought to be of myth.

Partridge Creek Monster movie: In 1910, two years of the last sighting of the creature, it suddenly appears again feeding not only on the local caribou and moose but people like hunters as well which prompts locals Tom Leemore and Lavagneux along with the same group of natives with the latter two years ago (After a failed attempt to find the creature) to hunt and kill the beast.

Short-faced bear movie: An divorced father taking his children on an camping trip in the Yukon. Their fun however soon turns into terror when they find themselves being hunted by an prehistoric throwback thought to have gone extinct during the last Ice Age.

Not exactly an killer creature flick but wanted to share as well.

An movie where researchers discovers an new species of aquatic animal resembling some kind of aquatic canine with cetacean features (Akhlut) living in the arctic region that inspired the legends of the half wolf, half orca by the Inuits with the characters researching and studying the species (Such as finding out they branched off of whales thus their closest relatives and being the most intelligent species after humans managing to avoid discovery so long due to living in caves underwater or icebergs with claws strong enough to penetrate through thick ice thus making ice caves for themselves) and going out of their way to protect them.

Aside from shark movies, why must creature flicks be such an rare breed for cinema...

This is a must if they want to keep on doing proper cutscenes.
Piers' concert was hilariously awkward with no voice work whatsoever.
How dare you, when he stomped his feet and opened his mouth multiple times near the mic while making absolutely no sound... I felt that
The virgin Pauline Jump Up Superstar concert with disgusting full vocal work and lyrics vs. the chad Piers concert with sweet silence and no distracting words.

Not at all. I'd love that actually. Hit me with those potential voices, by the way. I'd love to hear your ideas.

Hello, yes, can I just say I LOVE these partner designs?
Thank you! I’m glad to hear you liked them! I’ve been spending a lot of time working on them as well as their story stuff. Here’s a couple more I have that I didn’t include any voice ideas for yet (though one has a canon voice already.)

Griffin Puatu as Scuttlelee is a godlike casting decision, I must say.
I was trying to decide if I wanted Griffin for him or Roshin, but I think I wanna try to find something a bit more edgy and sounds more like a stereotypical RPG hero for him, yeah I think Griffin would suit Spider-Mac better.

While I'm not exactly familiar with these voice actors, I thought I'd at least say that your character designs are legit adorable.
