What changed in their production for them to reduce their pace THAT much? This is the best selling fighting game on earth, Nintendo should be giving them as much money and resources as possible.

Snake, there's only 6 characters left(Supposedly), and they told us they're going to be done by December 2021.


Unless they SUPER front load us, it's a much safer bet atm to expect no more than 3 pass characters a year.

Unless they SUPER front load us, it's a much safer bet atm to expect no more than 3 pass characters a year.

Yeah. And I want to know why. They got four done last year after all. Technically 5 because Byleth finished development by December. So what in earth happened that now they can only get out 3 in a year AT MOST?

As big as Smash is, it makes more sense to move employees to the next big project than keeping a ton on board for a single DLC packet.

And the longer things take the more fans fall off and the more the sales decline. Nintendo doesn’t get an exempt pass from standard consumer friendly business practices just because of their status in the industry.

Yes, they sell characters alone, but those single packs will never hit the same sales peaks that the pass itself does.

Then why do so many other game companies constantly put out all sorts of bonus content at least on a bimonthly basis? Even if it’s just cosmetic items, they still do it to keep people constantly engaged.

Really? They only do it quarterly and they skip Q4. They do others for specific games and indies. But at least since I started watching them there’s really only been three a year?

I personally don’t think we’re going to be getting a character until E3, and that would make it a year and a half of Fighters Pass 2.

Going off that, I say we get 2 this year and 4 next.

They used that as the perfect marketing strategy.

An Nintendo Direct at this point in January is wishful thinking. We're probably waiting until February and even then I don't expect the first post-Pass DLC fighter especially since we just got an announcement a few days ago.

Keep in mind they only showed off Joker as early as they did because of the Game Awards.

If it helps, there's always the possibility that they only said "by December 31st 2021" to cover their asses in case something came up to delay development, they could end up all being out by the end of next January for all we know. "December 31st" is very obviously a temporary date.
