I'd love Rayman to get in and I don't think his spirit necessarily disqualifies him (tbh I think only DLC spirits are hard 'nos' due to their timing)

... However, Nintendo will want the DLC fighters to have a broad appeal. While Hero was catered more towards Japan, I can't see a scenario where they do a character that's known in the west but is a 'literal who' in Japan, as is the case with Rayman. Yes. Ridley and Metroid more generally is bigger in the West, but he was a base game character, that they're not trying to sell separately. As such, I don't have high hopes for my limbless boy.

I'd also be more than happy if the Prince of Persia got in, but his series seems done and got eclipsed by Assassin's Creed

I got over Plant because it was ultimately harmless, I didn't have to pay for it to get it, and it was actually pretty funny when I stepped back. But every time I even think of Byleth my body temporarily surges with enough rage to summon a Red Lantern Ring. Like.... how am I supposed to deal with this?

Do something to get your mind off of Smash. You mentioned that you wanted to try developing a game, so maybe you could look into tutorials for Open Beats of Rage or Game Maker, or (re)play games that are similar to the types of games that you would want to make so you can get inspiration.

Watch a movie or TV show that you've been meaning to catch up on, ideally a comedy. Catch up on games that you've been meaning to play. There are a lot of options.

It is true that at the moment I can't think of anyone worse then Byleth, but at the same time..... I really wish he had at least teased the next fighter. It's one thing to be patient but smash is testing my patience, not unlike a layabout nephew late with the rent. Not that smash is LIKE that, but it's causing a similar irritation. Like.... there's a reason no other fighting game does it this way anymore. But the odds of them getting their act together and releasing a cinematic trailer revealing or at least teasing all 6 are slim to none and the speculation period is not one I'm excited for.

I concede. You make a good point. You think very differently about jokes when they're at your expense and not someone else's.

I still prefer DmC though. And I will not apologize for it, the reasons why, wanting a sequel, and wanting the costume in Smash. Because there's nothing wrong with having different opinions (Hopefully if I say it enough times it will change how I instinctively react).

Hey. A lot of people want him, and Banjo proves that that's enough to not just get on Sakurai's radar, but Nintendo's. And I think every fighter this pass has taught at least one person to not buy ahead of time.

I'm stilll gonna pre-order because I want the whole roster regardless of who it is and I want the discount. But if there's a character you would be really mad about, then don't pre-order.
