Most fandoms of popular things are bad. Undertale for example is a fantastic game that I'd recommend to anyone. Another recommendation of mine would be to stay far away from communities dedicated to it, because they tend to be just awful. And that's not an Undertale problem, that's a popular media problem, which is my point. There's also the Smash community, and uhh... well, Smashboards is certainly one of the better spots. GameFAQs a better idea of what I mean.
In any case, one shouldn't judge a work by its fans.
Never said I thought SU was bad because of the fanbase. It's just not as great as they think it is IMO. It used to be my favorite recent cartoon but eh.

I still like it, but I'm not gonna act like It's a game changer.

It ended early?

I remember there were still people in August who thought that Sakurai was trolling.

Hell, Waluigi was the 2nd most attributed character to "Chair theory" after Skull Kid.
Oh God
I forgot about chair theory

Man. Imagine thinking your most wanted still has a chance.

Morning everyone.

SwSh releases tomorrow, in my country. I'm expecting everyone in my college that has a Switch to go buy it...or boycott it in light of recent controversies...

With Disney + over a day launch and the service working, surely everything is dandy? Nope, a few shows have missing episodes (for reasons I don't fully understand) or episodes are plain out of order. On Reddit someone was making a list of episodes missing or out of order (chronological).

  • Andi Mack
  • Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
  • Darkwing Duck
  • DuckTales (1987)
  • The Incredible Hulk (1996)
  • Lion Guard
  • Little Mermaid
  • Recess
  • Suite Life Of Zack and Cody
  • The Simpsons
  • Tron Uprising

  • Bonkers
  • Darkwing Duck
  • DuckTales (1987)
  • DuckTales (2017)
  • Goof Troop
  • The Incredible Hulk (1996)
  • Kim Possible
  • Phil of the Future
  • Phineas and Ferb
  • Recess
  • Rescue Rangers
  • The Simpsons
  • Spider-man (1994) - All episodes incorrectly listed as one season. Mislabeled as 1995.
  • Star Wars Clone Wars - In release order.
  • TailSpin
  • X-Men: The Animated Series (1992)

Funny how even a planned launch can go awry at times huh?

Bonus: Guess the mixed order for Simpsons. No it is not the MJ episode (which is unavailable)

Oh yeah I almost forgot about chair theory. Regardless, the winds were taken out of our sails after Waluigi's assist trophy was shown. I and a ton of others wallowed in despair knowing Waluigi returned as an assist trophy for the third time in a row.

Maybe next game.
or dlc

The only western animation that has made a impression on me is golden age Looney Toons, Rankin/Bass Christmas movies, Genndy cartoons, Venture Bros, ATHF, and Morel Orel

Im probably forgetting some but those are the first things that come to my head.
Id put those on a higher pedestal than most.

I used to watch tons of Western Animation when I was a little girl. Now I'm a complete weaboo. American stuff doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Really though.

In a way, I'm glad things ended up this way.

There were SO many people convinced that "Sakurai is trolling us/lying!"

Sakurai may tease us at times, but he's not Masuda. If he says a character is an Assist Trophy with video evidence, they're an Assist Trophy.

I'm not sure where to classify the Rankin/Bass specials. On one hand, they were produced by a Western Studio.

On the other, they were produced using Animagic from MOM Production and Tadahito Mochinaga.

So what do I classify them as? I do agree that Golden Age Looney Tunes are impressive.

Haven't watched much modern animation either, but my roommate was into Regular Show for a while, and that was always off-the-wall enough to be enjoyable

Sakurai knows his fanbase so he always tries his best to be honest.

It doesn’t feel silly to me. If any one group of characters gets disproportionately/comparatively large then it kind of breaks the whole “crossover angle”. I have the same problem with Injustice and it’s heavy reliance on Batman characters or Classic Marvel vs Capcom where freakin Marrow got in before Thor and we still don’t have any spider-man villains besides venom. It’s all about balance. To me anyway.
If you want balance, more Capcom characters would actually be the way to go. Smash Bros is primarily Nintendo, so by your logic, we should be pushing for more Capcom characters. Hell, nine fighters are from the Super Mario series alone excluding DK and Yoshi.

Rankin/Bass did had several Mushipro guys working on the movies so I guess it depends on what level you think its "western"

Stuff like Inspector Gadget, Animaniacs, BTAS had Japanese studios like TMS animating some of the best episodes

So if I were to have hope of any of you guys watching my future animated series, I’ll have to move to Japan and create them there, got it.
Eh. You get the occasional gem like Castlevania's animated series. Plus some of the early Cartoon Network stuff were legitimate gems, but that could be nostalgia.

A good premise is a good premise. There's just not a lot of Western cartoons that grab me, especially now that I'm older.

How about clay animation?

No one?

Ok then.
Heeeey, I loved doing stop-motion back in the day.

For a class me and a classmate did a chess game in stop motion animation. Guess who lost?

My current avatar is from a cartoon that isn't even out yet, so I think that speaks for my stance on western animation.

I feel like we're starting to see a higher amount of western shows that hold themselves to higher standards of animation or story telling in recent years. Not to say there was none of that before, of course. You just have to know where to look to find it.

Animation talk?

Whether it's western, anime, claymation, or other... if it's good and in my tastes, I shall enjoy quite a bit.

Plenty of western animated media I love, but I can’t help but feel a lot of new western cartoons I see trailers for seem pretty homogenous, or are just aping another show. I’m sure they’re all made with love and vision, but that’s the impression get from a lot of them. Granted, that kinda becomes an inevitable problem with every form of media, so. Gravity Falls was pretty great though from what I watched of it, definitely deserves a lot of the praise it gets.

Sadly that's 100% true and I doubt any Assists will be upgraded within the same game they appear...

These kinds of people are the reasons stuff is becoming less fun these days...
