We kinda already tore into this. 5642 votes doesn't make up .1% of the people who play Smash. It doesn't even make up .05%. It is in no way representative of what people would want given how the sample size is locked behind three relatively niche communities.

If only there was some way to conduct some sort of public official ballot through the game. Send a pop up message that appears whenever people next enter the main menue, lets them fill in their responses, and goes on till every copy has submitted a response. But the results are public, unlike the Smash Ballot.

Setting that up would be super illegal though.

Honestly, most fan polls are nothing more than dedicated Smash fans wanting to validate that their character is popular and/or has a good chance to get in.

I don't know how likely Geno is, but it's not like Sakurai isn't already aware of his popularity. I'm sure the same applies to most of these other characters as well. It must be if Sakurai was able to tell that Sans was a popular request.

Honestly, that's the one thing I really hated about Arrow. It's like they wanted to make a Batman show, not a Green Arrow one. I really wish he had managed to lighten up some, I know Stephen Amell can pull it off.

True, but Ridley, K. Rool, Isabelle, Simon, and Banjo are all pretty damn telling. Especially sinc 4/5 of those constantly topped character polls by a mile.

Ehh... Saying Simon and Isabelle constantly topped the charts is a little generous. Both were consistently popular, but I rarely saw either crack the top 5 in any polls.

They let difference. Nintendo picked the FP characters. Sakurai picked the base game ones.

Banjo’s fans were some of the loudest by far. But I doubt the suits at nintendo know of any other big fan requests.
