Well, Sonic is updating the comedy goldmine that is his Twitter page, obviously.

The leak referred to the boxart legendaries as if they are one Pokémon, mentioning a singular wolf Pokémon that had a shield mane in Shield and a sword in its mouth like Sif in Sword, and that Pokémon goes up against Eternatus.
I took that as the boxart legendaries being one in the same in a way, filling the same role, just for the different games’ worlds.

Basically, Zacian simply doesn’t exist in the world of Pokémon Shield, and Zamazenta doesnt exist in the world of Pokémon Sword.

I doubt Zacian and Zamazenta will coexist if Eternatus is real. Even if someone like Marnie or Hop gets the other, there's really no reason for them to both be involved in the story, especially if there's no conflict between them.

Everyone is playing together on a Minecraft survival server.

Banjo & Kazooie are collecting gold to build a jiggy statue. They’re also trying to form Spiral Mountain.

Mario and Peach are picking flowers. Bowser sent Piranha Plant to surprise them.

Donkey and Diddy are building their treehouse in a jungle.

King K. Rool is spying on the Kongs while building a TNT cannon.

The Belmonts are dealing with Illagers as well as hunting for resources in the Nether.

Luigi was just spotted by the Belmonts whom are proceeding to save him.

Pikachu and Pichu are trying to build redstone contraptions.

Villager and Isabelle are with Samus, all trying to undo damage caused by Ridley in villages.

Sonic keeps trying to set new world records for speedrunning Minecraft.

Kirby, Yoshi, Dedede, and Pac-Man have a farm going, including a lot of pumpkins, melons, bread, milk, wheat, potatoes, and cocoa beans. Pac-Man has an area for just oak trees so he can get apples and later make golden apples; he sets out a lot on expeditions for enchanted golden apples.

Steve and Alex are waiting for an invite from Sakurai. They build a lot of nice things and help the others out.

Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword probably did it the best.

Breath of the Wild seems to have done a damn fine job with it, too.

Zelda II ends with it pretty much being official simply because of that off-screen kiss (to be fair, it was an early entry with 8bit graphics on a much weaker game engine, so it's not like there was much they could do for storytelling and characterization this time around, outside of the game manual).

A handful of other games have grounds for it to happen, but they're also usually the same games that tease potential relationships between Link and other women besides Zelda.

Wind Waker also did it great. Link X Tetra is my OTP and I meant that sincerely.

Tetra and Link were really great. I remember having a dream about Wind Waker with them in it when I was a kid.

The only other game I dreamt about was Super Paper Mario from what I can remember.

The most hype part about it is that Nairo has done this same match-up with Leo before and lost. And yet, he needed no counter pick to win this, he stuck to his Palu guns and adapted.

Maybe Daisy? I forgot what game it was, but I distinctly remember seeing a princess speak to Mario through voice alone in one of the older games.

As for the "effects" thing, no. Bowser very clearly tells you to "SCRAM!" despite being held up deep within the castle. Clear as day telepathy there.

Mario looks up whenever someone says something, meaning it's clearly audible, not telepathic. Unless you're assuming people like KBB, KW, and Wiggler are also telepathic beings. You can also hear Bowser's laugh if that truly means anything at all.

Castle obviously has a sick PA system. Or that it's not telepathy. If you have to assume it, it isn't a safe bet.

edit: just remembered that mewtwo is telepathic and that kirby had a phone in one game, RIP
