People just like collecting stuff.
Nothing like having a hard copy of something to show off. The feeling of holding something is one of the main reasons I love being a retro gamer/collector.

Though I do have a decent collection of VG OSTs that I like to add to when I can.

Dammit Microsoft, you've already ruined every last bit of glory that Banjo Kazooie ever had. Just give up, Rare did a better job with Banjo Kazooie under Nintendo than with you.
1. Stop produciton of all things Rare for a while, except their new Xbox One project they're working on currently
2. Sell classic Rare IPs to Nintendo
3. ???
4. Profit
5. (optional) or give up and pull an Enron.

Which is why we named it the "New 3DS". Because that won't ever become confusing. At all.
For the average consumer, it is confusing, but if they actually looked stuff on the internet, that wouldn't be the case.

I large portion of the consumers who happen to buy Nintendo products are parents. Parents buying it for their kids. A lot of adults don't even use the internet, let alone keep up with the gaming community. When some kid writes on his birthday list "A new 3DS", odds are the parents might get it mixed up with an older model.
I'm just surprised that Nintendo chose the same route they did with the Wii U. We all know the bumpy ride it had the first few years.

Nintendo can't seem to come up with a good product name to save their lives. I mean, 'New 3DS'? Come on now. :glare:

Next Nintendo handheld better be called HDS because of obvious reasons.
"I mean, an HD handheld?!"

Well then the kids should learn to explain to the parents what the **** they want looks like sometimes and stop thinking the parent know exactly what you are talking about

Thing is, many kids don't go to explain much, only very general and vague details. My guess is they don't think it's necessary, after all they think an adult, which they generally see as much more smart than themselves, would perfectly understand what they're refering to.

We all see how that turns out now, do we? Maybe they should learn to explain stuff, even if they think the adult is smarter

In that case, it's Nintendo's fault for not doing good advertising.
