MK is still godly good because his character traits are way too good, even if you put him in 2v2 or other scenarios.

Link has some redeemable qualities but in comparison with the rest of the cast he's still low tier.

But for competitive play, the main way tournaments run it at least, he's not so hot.

Because Gay is mad Toon Link. In all seriousness, it's fanboyism in most cases, just a dedication to an unsoiled character. He looked cooler than TL, and didn't cause too much nerd rage. In Melee, I picked Link because he had a sword and shield, then got better, got Brawl, continued. Then stopped for a while.

My Link's better than my every other character because I use him almost exclusively. I tried MK in a friendly for fun and was pathetic. I still won (barely, vs Gonon on Delfino, lol).

My TL is at least 3 times better than my Link Scabe, don't worry, you're not the only one.
Of course, my TL is helpless vs a decent MK, so now I'm going Lucario.
This probably won't go over well, but lol. If I have to use MK I will instaquit Smash.

Toon Link used to be my secondary (this was in my first month playing). I couldn't resist the urge to try and D-Air spike my opponents, so I quit him. I then went through a massive cycle of secondaries in an attempt to find one that I liked enough to stick with. After going through Falco, Bowser, Kirby, Captain Falcon, Luigi, and ROB, I settled on Link. I haven't dropped him since.

Hahaha, it sounds like everyone who plays Link is good at Toon Link. My TL is garbage; I'm pretty sure I stand a better chance against any other character with my Link than my TL. Maybe I'm just weird
I prefer Link anyway. He's just a lot of fun to play. And I'd rather be the underdog; I couldn't imagine maining MK or Snake and then be expected to win every single match. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised at winning when I shouldn't than losing when I shouldn't.
