So, Olimar's pivot grab

Weird things have been happening to me when I use it. The other day, I was playing online with my friend's Kirby on Brawl's Yoshi's Island when I attempted to pivot grab with a yellow Pikmin. I missed due to him being slightly out of my grab range, but he charged in afterwards as the Pikmin was returning. Out of nowhere, a Blue Pikmin rushes forward to grab the Kirby, to which I Bthrow'd him into oblivion. Odd thing? I only pressed Z once.

Something similar happened just yesterday. I was playing with a different friend's Peach on Delfino when I killed her (Purple Usmash ftw). While I was waiting for respawn, I pivot grabbed constantly on the bottom of the stage. When the two Blue Pikmin where up, I pivot grabbed for the last time and one went forward in the direction Olimar was running while the other went in the direction he was supposed to go in, basically making a grab that was like a Dsmash.

Are events like these common? Or do they just happen every once and again

I've never seen anything like that. What you might be confused about is that pivot grabbing sometimes goes out of your Pikmin's order.

Goes out of the Pikmin order? As in, skips into it a bit? The only reason why I asked was because it sent out two Pikmin when I only pressed Z once. It confuzzled me ,_,

Yeah, I mean, if you're looking for a yellow to go out and it sends out a blue, you're gonna see that blue go out and the yellow go behind you a bit being confused, and if you aren't expecting it it might look like two grabs, maybe. Rest assured, you will never grab two people at once.

That sounds like all it was. Pikmin just get confused sometimes and don't know where to go.

If you had grabbed two people at once or grabbed in 2 directions at once, then that would be extremely interesting.

run, change directions and grab simultaneously. pivot grab is the secret to my success. that and i **** people.

at 4:43, weruop does a pivot grab. he doesn't grab gdubs but you can see him slide as he performs the grab. it's subtle but awesome.

When pivot grabbing, you might switch to the following pikmin. For instance, if you think you should be grabbing with a yellow but theres a blue behind the yellow, you may end up grabbing with the blue. This might have been answered already, too lazy to check
