Original post is below, but I wanted to know what Pac West thinks of this....

Right now I'm pretty neutral about it. As a guy who mains someone at the bottom of the tier list, it's pretty frustrating fighting a MK. But at the same time, I don't think it's very fair for people who put the effort in. SamuraiPanda makes a good point though; it seems like the only decent counter for MK is... MK.

:ohwell:

I just skimmed a set between Azen and Lee Martin (the Gamestop championlol) Lee Martin wins the first 2 games MK vs Lucario. Azen switches to MK and 2 stocks him the next 3 games (loser's finals).

lolwut.

Competitive smash (at least singles) is dead to me now, so I'm indifferent to what happens.

exactly. Melee most definitely left the competitive circuit when brawl came out.

what, so now mk's are winning all the tournaments or what? I don't keep up with the brawl scene (good thing, I'd be mad if I mained mk).
I doubt its just the fact that he's winning all the time, but rather his character advantage is so great against most other characters that a hefty difference in actual skill cant even overcome it.

In Melee, that character advantage doesn't overpower the difference in player's skill as much (i.e. KDJ ****** Foxtards w/ Pichu). Fox and Falco are still very dumb characters though, when played correctly.

EDIT: I think Brawl is cuter. I mean... Pikachu's down-taunt. Pichu's taunt doesnt compare to it.

People are just X-Copy players (3rd Strike reference, chea), do whatever the "winners" of the scene are doing

Just need to play smart, look at the huge thread of random tips M2K dropped, people need to figure things out on their own but Brawl has more lazy players than Melee since it's easier to get into

You speak the truth EazyP... I feel it's too late for me to get into the competitive Melee scene so I went with Brawl. :ohwell:
I mean jeez, not even having mastered wavedashing in Melee, how could I get into it? D:

Its never too late to join Melee. NorCal has a good wave of new people (some have even beaten people like Hydro Kirby :chuckle:) that joined the Melee community after Brawl's release. And the community is really tight-knit, which is my driving reason to keep playing it.

I find both games enjoyable, but with no one to play Brawl with, and more of my friends playing Melee, I play Melee more. Do whatever you feel best doing.

EDIT: Roy is a very beautiful man.

well if i started Melee, I'd probably go with Shiek, Roy or Marth because they were always my favorites.
Two out of those three are very good characters already right? :)
I won't be different and main Link again; I'll keep him for Brawl... -_-

None of my close friends play Smash competitively so it's difficult for me to get practice with either game. But if people around Irvine are willing to train a complete noob i'd be happy to start playing. hahaha.

The SBR isn't a governing body, they don't "ban MK," as ultimately everything is up to individual TO's. The SBR just issues recommendations.

But anyway, nobody to my knowledge has even put together a well-defined set of criteria for the banning of a character that we can look at and see if the evidence fits. How can we even talk about banning something if we don't know/agree what it takes to ban a character? This is fundamentally different than banning a stage, this is another beast entirely.

Anyway I'm closing this. If you want to discuss the possible banning of metaknight do so in the brawl tactical discussion thread. If you want to discuss the possible banning of metaknight in specific tournies do so in the specific threads. This thing is gonna get messy as hell.
