And which way do you think is the most effective? How often and how intense. I'm asking because I'm think of making a guide... >_>

So how do you train with Sonic: I fight good players and learn matchups and such.
Which way is the most effective: Fighting good players, learning matchups.
How often and how intense: When the times right, and however intense it gets.
Making a guide: Everyone wants to make a guide, what kind of guide?
Eat steak.

:)

....

1. Eat Steak.
2. Go to the Thread Index Zone stickied thread and read up on everything you can there.
3. Watch videos of good Sonics like Boxob, Boxob, and
Boxob
4. Know Sonic's weaknesses (Aerial based opponents, Opponents that limit approach in some way)
5. Practise match-ups.
6. STFU Chis
And when that doesn't work, embrace the steak. Learn to love the steak, and eventually in turn the steak may truly love you back.

My training method

I don't get to fight a lot of good players often, although I have a friend that mains a really strong Diddy, so I am stuck with LV9 CPUs.

When time allows I practice every day.
I warm up on 2 stock, random LV9s, usually on FD.
Then I when I'm warmed up I go to Team 1 on 2, LV9 random CPUs. (random so I won't know exactly what to expect.)
And then if I'm feeling up to it I do 1 on 3s against LV9 random CPUs. Those usually don't last long but help me work on my evasion and stamina.

I usually try to sharpen timing, and test new styles, combos, and tricks when I train like this.

I wish there were more tourneys around where I live...

Okay all serious to be good as sonic, utilize all of his moves. But first get use to his speed because if you dont, where are the dash throws at. And use down-b often. the spin dash will hit the person, but jump and turn it into a combo. Don't spam his smash attacks either because it wont help out much. Only use his down-a smash if you are going to. Throw often, the other person will be a little disoriented no matter who it is. (I still see some advanced players get thrown off) And use smash attacks as a finisher. Soften up your opponents with the combos and quick attacks and finish with a smash

This actually makes sense.
But first get use to his speed because if you dont, where are the dash throws at.
It takes all of 3-4 times of playing with Sonic to get used to his speed. Where are the dash throw at? Where are the meaning of this statement?
And use down-b often. the spin dash will hit the person, but jump and turn it into a combo.
No, because then you get predictable. If you use spindashes, mix it up a lot with ASC, shield cancels, or follow up with different aerials or the occasional homing attack.
Don't spam his smash attacks either because it wont help out much. Only use his down-a smash if you are going to.
Why only D-Smash? I personally love F-Smash and enjoy hyphen smashes for racking up damage. Sonic goes completely invinsible when he enters the ball form of the U-smash, so I find that move to be a good approach.
Throw often, the other person will be a little disoriented no matter who it is. (I still see some advanced players get thrown off)
Yes, grabbing and throwing is a big part of Sonic's game, but what do you mean by disoriented? What advanced players are getting thrown off by what?
And use smash attacks as a finisher.
Duh, or bair. Bair is a very big kill move for Sonic.
Soften up your opponents with the combos and quick attacks and finish with a smash
Be unpredictable. Always mix up your approaches and use the correct move to fit the situation. The minute you become predictable is the moment you lose. You must always read your opponent. Apply pressure when needed, but you will almost always be on the defensive.
My thoughts put in red.
