After being involved in this topic I thought of trying some of my roommate's eggnog, but alas, he just drank the last of it. At least he liked it.

store bought eggnog is gross.
I don't think so. Store bought tastes just as good, in my opinion.

That is a heart wrenching tale. I'm so sorry.

A very good question. Here are some Egg Nog websites:

http://www.indepthinfo.com/eggnog/index.shtml
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggnog
http://www.culinarycafe.com/Drinks/Eggnog.html
http://whatscookingamerica.net/Eggnog.htm

This in particular, sparked my interest:
Orange Non-alcoholic Eggnog Float

4 eggs
6 tablespoons sugar
5 1/2 cups fresh orange juice, chilled
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 quart vanilla ice cream
1 quart ginger ale, chilled

Beat the eggs and the sugar until light (no separation necessary here). Stir in the orange and the lemon juice. Place small scoops of ice cream in the punch bowl. Pour the ginger ale against the sides (inside, of course) of the bowl (this is done to preserve as much of the carbonation as possible). Add the orange juice picture slowly, stirring gently. Serve immediately. This will make about 30 servings.
I also saw a recipe for "Eggless Eggnog". Those links are pretty cool, I suggest all Eggnog Enthusiasts check them out. :chuckle:

Why does everything have to be about sex?

Doesn't anyone like the girl for their personality, talents, etc. I for one, do. I choose to respect women. (even if they don't themselves)

I just had the eggnog milkshake at jack in the box. Is that anything close to real eggnog or have I been shammed?
Whoa, sorry to forget about you! :urg:

I wouldn't know how good the Jack in the Box shake is, as I don't have any of those around my area. However, I recently had the Egg Nog Shake from McDonald's, and like I suspected, it kicked ***.

But...in my experience, Regular egg nog > Shakes/Malts/Ice Cream, or any other form of "Egg Nog" that isn't actually Egg Nog.

I've only had egg nog a couple of times. I completely forget how it tastes.

This thread has now given me a craving for it.

No...doesn't have to be.

I just love Egg Nog, and without a shadow of a doubt it's the best part of the Holiday's for me. Sadly, I've only had it like twice this year. :dizzy:

Eggnog == goodness.

Heh, now this is an eggnog recipe:

Traditional Eggnog Recipe
12 eggs, separated
6 cups milk
2 cups heavy/ thickened cream
2 cups bourbon
1+ ½ cups sugar
¾ cup brandy
2 teaspoons ground nutmeg

In a large bowl and using a mixer, beat the egg yolks together with the sugar for approx 10 minutes (you want the mixture to be firm and the colour of butter).
Very slowly, add in the bourbon and brandy - just a little at a time.
When bourbon and brandy have been added, allow the mixture to cool in the fridge (for up to 6 hours, depending on how long before your party you're making the eggnog).
30 minutes before your guests arrive, stir the milk into the chilled yolk mixture.
Stir in 1+ ½ teaspoons ground nutmeg.
In a separate bowl, beat the cream with a mixer on high speed until the cream forms stiff peaks.
In yet another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk mixture.
Gently fold the cream into the egg mixture.
After ladling into cups, garnish with the remainder of the ground nutmeg.

Serves: 8.
