Snake Help

I been using snake for a while and I just dedcided to main him with sheik.
But I have 1 simple question how do you edgehog with him? Every time I try to run off and turn back I end up falling.

If the keyboard represents analog movements:
6321, where 6 is the direction away from the stage.

or in simple terms do it faster.

its like a street fighter command, Half Circle Forward, if the ledge is on the left.
